Progress Report
Progress and Happy 2017!!!
Hi to all, first of all: happy new year 2017!!! I hope it goes well for everybody. ;)
Now, it has been more than a month since I updated the blog, so it is time to keep you guys informed of progress.
I am still pretty focused on mapping right now, I have been working in lots of instances as you may have seen in the images I have been posting pretty constantly, including today. You can take a look if you like in the corresponding section.
I can already tell you about almost all of the dungeons the first episode will have, and when I say dungeons I mean bigger instances, there will also be some caves and others. These dungeons will be, by name and order of appearance:
- Fort Andros (haven't started with this one yet, but soon).
- Ymel Woods (some pics in the gallery, pretty much done).
- Temple of Ahania (a pic in the gallery, about 50-75% done).
- Arakon Castle (a pic in the gallery, about 50-75% done).
- Grym's Grove (haven't started with this one yet, but soon).
- Broken Hill Mines (some pics in the gallery, about 50-75% done).
I'll tell you more about them in the coming weeks, meanwhile check the image gallery to have a first look at parts of them.
Apart from mapping I have almost finished character design. This aspect will be covered in a future section I will include in this page introducing the 4 main characters the player will control: Edgar, Armand, Vidar and Ley. The section will also cover other NPCs and antagonists, such as the Demon Commander Macfleus or the Myth.
More stuff:
- I am also working on monster designs and combat scripts, which are pretty much Yanfly's credit. He has some very very nice codes which I am experimenting on. Here is a new pic of a boss, the Nightmare:
- World map ingame is also another thing I am working on, but it's still a bit buggy in terms of player positioning. Much work is still to be done, like adding some legends, but here is a first look:
- Menus are also some of my concerns at the moment, I am using Blackmorning's scripts which are cool for the equipment section. A first look and more to come in the future:
- Finally, a demo is something I plan on releasing this year, but I still have no date, sorry.
And for now that's it. More stuff coming up in the next weeks, stay tuned, bye bye!!! ;)

Progress Report
Mapping and more soundtrack
Hi to all, in this blog I just wanted to tell you what I have been up to in the last two weeks, which is basically mapping and checking more music tracks.
In terms of mapping the most time-consuming thing has been building the world map for episode 1. In this episode the player will explore the continent of Ekas. It has been really really tough, as I had never done such a gigantic map ever (in total it is 150x265 in size), but I think the final result is worth the time.
This is 1/8 scale in the editor. There are towns, cities, ports, dungeons, forts, caverns, and many other things. I'll upload a more detailed image with descriptions soon. You can also check in the gallery for a closer look at a couple of images in 1/4 scale.
Apart from the world map I have also mapped several instances such as the city of Adalkor or the town of Qale, which will be the starting point of this RPG. You can see a couple of pics in the gallery which were posted some days ago along with others.
Finally I have uploaded some more music tracks that will more than likely be in the game, although some of them may appear in further episodes. They are in a Dropbox link in the media section of this page.
And so, I'll get back to work, there is still many things to do, so I will keep you updated in future blogs. Stay well, and see you around! ;)

Progress Report
Battle System and Soundtrack
Hi to all, i'll introduce you in this blog to the Battle System for the saga.
First of all I'm still playing with the scripts so it is an early preview, there will be more changes in the future. I'm using many of the scripts provided by Yanfly to adapt to what I want which is the classic layout style of games like Final Fantasy: turn-based and with the normal actions such as Fight, Magic, Guard, Item and maybe Summons. As for the aspect it will look something like this:
This would be a boss battle, with the party facing up. In normal battles I will use the typical side view, like this:
I'm also working on animations for the boss like the one in the image so it would appear like it's floating.
In future updates I'll let you know some more details on types of attacks, magics, and more. Just wanted to add that I don't pretend the game to be very heavy in this aspect, there will not be too many battles (there will be some, but what i mean is that it won't be like, for example: take two steps and fight random encounter, take two more steps and another random, and so on, I think that would be pretty tedious).
And to finish the blog I have added in the Media section part of the Soundtrack for this first episode, so you can check them out if you like. I still have to select more tracks, though, so I will be adding more in the next updates. As usual most of them have been obtained from Kevin Macleod's incompetech site and from purple-planet site.
And for this first progress blog that's all, folks. Stay tuned for more soon. See ya!! ;)

Announcement
Welcome to Quaternaria!!!
Hello everyone!! Welcome to the world of Quaternaria and to an episodic and epic fantasy tale called "The Black Sword Chronicles"!!
After my first two short horror games ("Darkest Dreams" and "An Evil Night") I have decided to retake a much larger and old project I had in mind, more oriented on the typical RPG Fantasy genre. This story has been on my head for many many years, almost to the point of obsession and I have ported it partially into other platforms (Neverwinter Nights for example) but never really finished it. Now it is time.
An introduction to this story can be seen in the description above, just a little treat to advance the general plot. I have also added in the image gallery some preview maps of the lands you will be travelling in Quaternaria: basically three main continents (they still don't have all the details, but more or less), separated by a so called "Transformation Line". I will explain what this line is exactly in future blogs, but think of it for now as a Void. It will be interesting. You can also find in the gallery some early first look in-game images and also the main theme of the game.
In the next blogs I will be updating and explaining changes in development, progress, features, images, music, videos and many more, so stay tuned if you are interested in the status of the game and want to see some previews. The project is still in very early production so you will see a lot of info from now on.
See you around here, cheers!!!
