I never knew that this…thing…even existed until just now.
I always thought that the only handheld Mega Man games that were made back then were on the Gameboy, NES and SNES - and now I know why: this game’s music and sound quality is just horrrrrible. I mean, WTF is up with the MS-DOS like sound effects for whenever Mega Man uses his Mega Buster or jumps? I mean, I didn’t think it was humanly possible for a Mega Man game to have such horrible music and sound quality like this – but this one takes the cake. Also, lol, just look how incredibly crunched the screen is compared to everything. F***, this is just horrible… And just look at how incredibly lame the ending is for this, my god…
And the sad thing about all of this is that this is still a much better game than Mega Man And Bass is.
(Although not Mega Man Soccer; that game kicked ass!)
I don't know what happened to U.S Gold, the makers of that game, but If they truly did go under or got absorbed by something bigger, it was probably for the best.
now you've got me wondering about the Game Gear's sound hardware! it's got a softer, rounder edge to it than the 2A03 (the Game Boy/NES soundchip), but with an unpleasant shrill 'ping!' to some lower notes. it sort of reminds me of cheap items like the Tiger tv consoles, though that's an awful thing to say to the Game Gear!
on a related note, actually, remember MMBN? remember that really hard platformer??? turns out there's another that we never got, because WonderSwan
I'm not sure if my favorite part of GG Megaman is how Wily's castle changes from entrance to exit or the only part of the castle besides the Wily fight is Quickman's stage with the shitty tiny camera. Thank god the lasers aren't instant death in this one! It's probably the only positive change from the bits that I watched.
Jesus… Why is this Mega Man so goddamn fat, lol!? (Maybe he's secretly bad box art Mega Man in disguise.)
Either way, I’d still rather play that compared to the Game Gear version. At least it looks rather comical in nature and runs relatively good. As a kid, I would have loved to have played this on my parents old IBM. That's how I got to first experience the original TMNT game for the NES.
