Nick's Review Thread
yeah, too many games on a list kills this kind of thread. When I reopen mine, I will give myself a 3 game limit. Playing 2-3 a week will make it more manageable for me.
Good luck, Nick!

Quick observations;
1. Credits should definitely be at the END of a game. I don't want to know who made it until I am done playing, myself.
2. That font is everywhere... my poor eyes!
3. The intro drags. It takes a little long to finally get to the point to where you can control your guys. On this same note, ok, the book gets laid down, then you have MORE intro, this time a wall of slow text displayed on pages. A lot of us I'm sure don't read THAT slowly, and to go from beautiful scenery to... notebook paper and text, is hideous. Perhaps it would have been better to zoom into the book, but then dissolve into a flashback or something, so you're not sitting there, staring at slow, un-skippable text on notebook paper. Give us the option to scroll once we're done reading, that's a nice service to the player, too.
4. This is posted on an RPG maker's forum. Your tutorials on the most basic things from moving your character to how to fight are... intrusive. It would be nice to be able to have the option to turn tutorials off. Most of us I believe like to delve and try things out on our own. And come on, a tutorial on how turn-based battles work? Unnecessary. The only things that should require tutorials are whatever you made that is DIFFERENT from most RPG's. "Use the arrow keys to move your guy"... We KNOW this by instinct already, man.
Production values are pretty nice so far, I like what you've done visually. Music is top notch, and now all that's left is to play through and see if the plot is readable. A little on the TV Trope-y side so far, though.
I'll fully review this when I have reliable internet in a couple days. It'll give me time to play through more thoroughly. First impression is ok, cept for a few things, obviously.

Hello, I'm new to these forums; I'm Ironwing. I've always been a fan of video games (particularly RPG's), and I wanted to make my own. I have RPG Maker 3, but it's outdated and awful. I'd like to get a computer RPG Maker sometime (XP or newer) and try my hand. That being said, for now I have only ideas. This topic is where people can bounce ideas; sometimes the unlikeliest concepts can fit well together.
For a city at the beginning of an RPG (or in the middle), I thought of this: a city of ships bound together, constantly traveling at sea. There are residential ships, market ships, farming ships (for crops/livestock, deep ships filled with fertile land), etc. A local legend says this ship city began when an entire navy abandoned its home country. That legend also says that this ship city supposedly houses some secret. This ship city and its people haven't seen or been on land for centuries.
I can think of a lot to do with this concept. How about you guys?
I would say you've played Suikoden 5 recently, myself.

Criticism for Dummies
Yeah, I myself will make fun of the shortcomings, but I will DEFINITELY explain what I found wrong with it in detail afterwards, and let the creator know how it can be worked on.
Criticism for Dummies
People should realize that reviewing isn't just nitpicking on GRAMMAR and insulting for the sake of insulting. You can still give an opinion of a game AND have fun nitpicking the ENTIRE game without needlessly insulting the maker. Takes a lil' bit of effort on the part of the writer.
