The Sword or the Pen: Your Character's Weapon Preference in RPGs
@Ap-King-Pro: Oh gosh please shut up, go play some other RPGs. I like my fair share of Final Fantasy's but you've been sucking on the tit of Square Enix for too long. This is not a debate about The Sword or the Pen, I am merely asking in terms of preferences and trying to get a basic discussion on the use of Equipment types in RPGs. I honestly don't mind swords if it fits into the world, I just believe at times they just aren't the greatest choice of weapons, hell I have characters that use swords in my game, I'm just a bit tired of them. ;D
@Feldschlacht IV: Ya that was wrong of me. :(

the girl in pink has eyes that are WAY too big for her head, imo. even for anime.
just an opinion.
the top girl looks pro, though. nice work!
Uggh the Anime style, its only because I like you Nessiah, however the head is a tad to big.
Alright, how do I make the Master System in RM2K3?
In theory this should work, I haven't tested it out fully yet, but I think I have something similar to this working in The Last Bible. If we are using Equipment to do this, I assume it will work like the Materia System.
Anyways I will make two tutorial, this first one is if you are using Touch Based Encounters in your game.
First create and Accessory called Way of the Sword. How it increase Strength and Speed at the expense of Defense by 1 Point.
Next Go to the Battle Event Editor and create an event that starts on Turn 0. This event should call the Common Event called Level Check 1. This Common Event will check Levels Prior to the beginning of battle.
Hero's Level 1: Set Equal to Hero 1's Level
Once done go to the Common Event Editor and make a new Common Called Statistic Check 2 as well as Master Level Event. For Statistic Check 2 set the characters level equal to a variable.
Hero's Level 2: Set Equal to Hero 1's Level
When the Statistic Check 2 is completed go to Master Level Event. This Common Event should be a parallel process that is always running. Call Statistic Check 2, and then make a Conditional Branch that is active when Hero's Level 2 is greater than Hero's Level 1. If so make another Conditional Branch that checks if a Player is equipped with “The Way of the Sword†Accessory. If so increase Strength and Speed by 1 Point and decrease Defense by One Point. Lastly set Hero's Level 1 and 2 Equal to 0.

Well, the Buster Sword wasn't probably made to be innovative, they were just going for the big ass sword look, especially considering that the Buster Sword helped start Big Ass Sword Fad. Also, Cloud being strong enough to hold the sword despite his physique is explained by him getting the SOLDIER treatment (even though he was never actually in SOLDIER).Once the Machine Gun was created the Sword became utterly obsolete.
Not if you can deflect bullets en masse or channel magic through a sword.
See? They got their asses covered.
Gosh I hate Final Fantasy. *Walks away.*
I did have the last laugh when Zack got gunned down in FFVII: Crisis Core.

Oh gosh, the Buster Sword is the least innovative weapon ever created. The sword is so bulk its works better as a shield. I love FFVII, but honestly Cloud's skinny ass arms probably couldn't even hold a gun. Anyways, if you can't tell I'm not the biggest sword a futuristic setting. Once the Machine Gun was created the Sword became utterly obsolete. Sadly in The Last Bible, I shamelessly have one character using a sword, and dub it off as a Holy Weapon. All in all I guess it depend on your games setting, I mean look at FFXIII swords are now, Gunswords, I mean hell thats the best weapon choice I've ever heard of.
