Intentionally Bad Games.
Troll game is a much better term for what I originally had in mind. The idea being to repeatedly insult the player's intelligence while still having enough of a game to convince most of them to keep playing.
Wild Kings is a good example of this.

Ratty's game was just the first one that came to mind since it was masterful at doing what it intended to do.
Quite frankly every RM project i've ever started has either become infected with Trollitis or is so stupidly epic that I have no realistic chance of ever finishing it. So the temptation to cut off a small piece of random stupidity and grow it in a petri dish tends to get overwhelming at times.
What I'm probably going to do is take one of my 'epic' ideas, break it into small chapters and strip ALL immature humor out of it. Make it stupid and cutesy rather than stupid and ugly.

Not sure if im in the right section but can anyone tell me why they decline games, what are some reasons?
Thanks for the offer Kaempfer. I'll have to think over what exactly to send you. Everyone seems to like my concepts, no one seems to like how those concepts are executed.
Intentionally Bad Games.
Ok, I guess the answer is "don't even fucking think about it". Fair enough.
Actually Darken won me over with his first post. Tempted to play devil's advocate mind you.

post=121627post=121624Yeah, if a poor game mechanic is implemented due to lack of design competence or for satirical/clever/lolz purposes, then I don't see how it can add to the fun at all (if there was any).
You walk into a door.
YOU DIE.
Ok I would definitely not be going that far. I was thinking more along the lines of having a city called Johnsontown shaped like a dick and balls, retarded six-grader sort of humor.
Intentionally Bad Games.
What is everybody's opinion on intentionally bad games? I'm talking about games designed to brutally mock other games, horrible cliches, or other aspects of the RPG community?
I'll hold this game up as an example

I'm just asking because I'm sarcastic, bitter and having difficulty coming up with a concept for a short good game. So please try to talk me out of making a short bad game which would probably involve ninjas.

Actually I can't figure out. The PM's that were sent out with the denial messages weren't arriving.
Yes I submitted my game MUCH too early (60% of main map was still empty as I was leaving room for expansion) but still suspecting what needs to be worked on and knowing what needs to be worked on are quite different things.
If somebody wants to go over it and give me minimal improvements that I need to make before I resubmit I would really appreciate it. Otherwise I might as well move on to another project.

You aren't allowed to delete any embarrassing comments you make but you are allowed to claim that you were drunk when you made them. :P

yes but you can't update the game itself which is the real problem.
Ill be honest I'm more pissed off about working for a week on a project I THOUGHT was greenlighted only to have it denied without ANY communication as to why a week later . Was there any sort of debate about my game? and if so could I at least be given a chance to explain my intentions concerning my project?
WIP has pointed out there that was a bug preventing denial messages from being sent properly. This makes me feel a bit better and at least lets me know there's nothing personal against me.
I've since moved on... but I will say that the whole experience nearly caused me to give up game making altogether.
