In Search of Immortality Review

If you want a review wherein you are completely rated in a vacuum and not compared to anything else, I don't know what to tell you. :T I apologize if it came off like I was accusing you of plagiarism (because I definitely wasn't), but there is only so much originality possible within the RPG Maker genre, so everything that isn't actively bizarre/surreal like Middens or OFF is going to inevitably be compared to things that are similar, especially things that pull off the demonstrated concepts really well.

Thank you for your quick response. I might add, though, that the developer getting really defensive is kind of a reviewer's nightmare, so you may want to ease off on that if you don't want to scare more sensitive reviewers off. I basically gushed all over your game and how much I adored it, so getting a response like that is basically telling potential reviewers "welp, better not say anything bad at all."

In Search of Immortality

Just finished. That was adorable, funny, well-written, and generally a fun experience; the only character I didn't adore was Isaac, and he had his moments. Ezekiel in particular was fantastic. I have some gripes about the gameplay, but as far as story and characterization, A+. Review incoming.

I actually thought the first boss was a fine difficulty. Definitely harrowing, but if you found the spellbook in the church basement and took the time to use the camera to find out the boss's weakness, definitely doable. The game gives you tools tailored especially to destroy that boss (the spellbook and the insecticide bullets) if you explored enough, so I think the difficulty was just fine.

Welp, I am officially a fan after playing through this newest demo. It's difficult without being crushing, the plot is good, and there seem to be a number of pretty slick systems in place that work together well.

I only found a couple bugs: The level up screen displays "MP up" despite it being FP in this game, and there are some people you can talk to who don't have the little "you can talk to this person" icon above their heads.

Eagerly awaiting further developments!

Alright, thank you for the prompt response and fix! The game looks great, I'm excited for the update.

Hm, this looks really interesting. I'd love to play through it, but a pretty significant detriment is how it seems to force fullscreen, which makes it nigh-unplayable on a big monitor. I know it's not technically in fullscreen, since pressing F1 ingame shows it as windowed and pressing alt-enter just whites out the screen entirely; what's the issue here? The game is ugly as sin stretched from a tiny native resolution all the way across my monitor.

Final Fantasy Blackmoon Prophecy

Is it possible to transfer saves between versions? I'm feeling a bit weak pretty consistently if I don't grind, so it would be cool to make use of the lowered EXP curve in the new version without having to start over.

Also, I was amused by the reason Ami wasn't affected in the Cave of Dreams. Good call.

Don't worry about it, I fiddled around and it turns out it's a known issue with MP3s using the Combined Community Codec Pack. In case anyone has the same issue I did, you can fix it by enabling MP3 in LAV Splitter.

More to the point of the actual game, I just reached the Rift Shrine, and do people level up when they're sitting there? I want to run with Oalston/Elina/Ami, since Vera's just not very useful when all her summons eat her entire MP bar and Ami's just as good physically with a lot more utility. However, I don't want to go through the game and then find out that Vera and Nobumasa are still sitting there at level 14, since I do intend to use the two of them later when they get less awful (in Nobumasa's case) or more summons (in Vera's).

Update, I can listen to all of the music files on their own through VLC with no glitchy sound at the beginning, but in-game it still clicks loudly at the beginning of every track and every time they repeat. I've tried running it in every compatibility mode I can think of, with and without administrator, and none of it is helping. :T

So I just discovered this and have been playing for a bit, it's a fun game and seems to have a really staggering amount of content, which is neat. However, I have one big issue.

There is a really, really irritating buzz/glitch sound every time an audio track comes to the end and loops. This happens often, as most of the audio tracks aren't terribly long, especially ones like the battle victory theme. It's driving me up the wall, to the point that I don't know if I'll be able to keep playing this for that long. It would be like trying to write an essay in a room with a light source that blinks off every ten seconds; I COULD, but it would be really irritating and generally not worth it.

Is it just me that has this problem? Is there some sort of fix? I'm on Windows 7 x64, if it matters.
