Games I've played and why

The Cartographer: Honestly it was more on a whim, but as I played I enjoyed it. I would say it is a great example of scripting and eventing, and it is unencrypted so you can learn from it if you have VX as well.
Visions & Voices: I have not played this one much, it was an earlier build as well. I had agreed to help test it a bit, but I didn't do much to be honest. I plan to redownload it and play it in full.
Cosplay Crisis: I have been on good terms with the author, so I figured that I should give her game a chance if I wanted to ask her to play mine. I had some issues with the fonts, that hopefully I can resolve and I can give the game another chance.

I would say that there are a lot of seemingly good quality games on the site, a lot of crap but there is enough here if you take the time to see. Honestly it's not that hard to tell who's at least trying to do things right and who isn't.

Your feedback is very important.

Today's progress, March 30

* Found a good, easy party swapping script. This will clear the way for me to add the Lethal Joke Character, as well as a few others.

The Lethal Joke Character, I will not name her outright but she is mentioned within the game already, her true power will depend on synergy with another character. She can be powerful, but only if you combine their powers, in a way.

I will also enable a few others to join as well.

EDIT: Now the character faceset edit is completed and added to the game.

Meanwhile, I am making updates. The build will not be released until later, and I will keep you updated.

So far:

* You get 1000 gold to start with.
* Normal potions will be sold at the vendor on the first floor.
* Invincible Jelly and So Dead won't appear until later floors.
* Drop rates increased, especially on the Jelly Samples.
* Half-fixed a bug where the battle music for the Jelly Queen keeps playing after you fight her.
* The Jelly Queen place is a full fledged floor now.
* Fixed a broken event where you were supposed to talk to the innkeeper's teddy bear.
* Made sure both ends of the purple tile path on the first floor were marked with signs.
* Most abilities now cost mana.

Later on, I plan to make headway on some other changes:

1. Make it so that either you can have more than 4 people in the party, or you can swap members out.
2. Put in the promised Lethal Joke Character. I will utilize junkhut for recolored sprite and faceset.
3. Expand the introduction a bit, and make the intended progression more evident.

To be perfectly frank though, some of the enemies might end up getting unfair too quickly, but maybe not.

And at least a couple of them exist simply to annoy the party with endless status effects.

The Tower is a bit bizarre.

Looks way too open. You don't need to make interiors look this big. Something I typically like to do is allow 1-2 tile spaces away from the edges of the map, then I fill the contents. Think about what type of place this is, as well. Is it a hallway? Is it a small cottage? A castle?


Actually that was from an older build, it looks open because there were less people. I put more people in as I built on it. You might have a point about the general constrution of it, in fact I might end up remaking the whole game from scratch later on.

In any case, it's supposed to be an alchemy school. There's a classroom, and then there's a lab. That screenshot is in the lab.

I will make a small game about fighting slimes/jellies. Depending on how much I am able to get done there may or may not be a point to it.
