They really only result in animosity. Teaching and learning aren't things that happen when discussing politics and religion.

I don't approve banning such topics from being discussed, but locking them when they get stupid and people start flaming each-other is fine. A thread about game design probably would have been locked at a much lower threshold.
I agree with LockeZ. In my experience, such topics usually do turn ugly, though it is always nice to give people the benefit of the doubt and try to discuss things reasonably first.


Yeah, but why do they turn ugly? because some people just can't behave! :P

Seriously!? the "Are you a libertarian" thread got closed because some user didn't like it? Awww come on guys... anyways, forget about it, I'm just here to ask about what's the stance of members here on the whole Political threads... should they be allowed? is this something anyone would be interested in discussing about or should RMN just forget about these political stuff and just stick to games?

I think that all sorts of topics should be allowed in the General discussion area, such as politics, religion and so on... and there should be enough freedom to post links / images / videos on them to back up our points when discussing them. I'm not going to object if this is something that gets censored from now on. Just my two cents XD
