This is awesome. Man is it ever retarded that you need to register to a forum to read a thread though. That's enough to keep me away from that place for eternity.

Huge perspective problem with the tub. The cupboards thing look out-of-place.

Nice, I love the atmosphere on this map.

I can read it just fine, maybe it's your computer, do you have eye sight problems, seriously.....I don't get it.

I also find it hard to find, so it's probably a problem on your end. Seraph provides a good suggestion.

I think the highlights in the hair could really use a massive overhaul and so would the skin texture in the face.

Giving Feedback: Pass or Fail

Thanks for your reply Ultima187,

To pass or fail is acually the least important part of the videos to the point where I was thinking of removing it altogether. What matters is that you get feedback to for your game and decide or not to make some changes.

As I've said, this is probably an awesome game as it seems quite polished. I would have delivered the story differently to something which matches my tastes when it comes to story telling.

I think passive phases for a player should be around 4-5 minutes at most and only if it's absolutely necessary. I honestly think you could get your story across by editing out a good 40% of the text you have right now. A writer in Canada once explained that his editor would ask him to practice getting ideas and emotions across by using less words and weighing whether each word and sentence really moves the story forward.

I think it would have been possible for Lyla's story. You could have her fight guards in the desert right after the old man is done talking.

Positives:

1. Player is not passive anymore.
2. You can show off your battle mechanics right away.
3. There's some action right in the first minutes of the game which is not a bad thing in my book.

So you see, it's only a minor thing and it would really help the story telling in your game in my opinion.

The auction could also be shortened, there's really no point in making this longer than necessary.

I also hope the one eyed guy in the future doesn't end up as a Guts clone. Your game deserves better.

Again, just my opinion.

Remember Final Fantasy IV & VI for the SNES? Great introductions: you had a little background and were immediately in control: Cecil and his fight on the airship and Terra and her fight in the caverns (+exploration phase).

Site Announcement

Well done, thank you! No more Final Tear 3 type of threads guy, for the love of god, no more.

That's really cool WCouillard, you've redeemed yourself in my eyes.

WIP, I think you know your shit when it comes to coding a website because it's just epic.

I'm wondering if you have the right profile to run the place however. I don't mean it in a pejorative way. Let me explain.

I don't want to play therapy here but you seem emotional and promt to anger. You also seem to have have a very, very precise idea as to how people should behave. That's really not a good combination when dealing with a community of... humans.

You need someone who's level headed who is tolerant of other people's differences. Not everyone is cut out to deal with people and it seems like you don't fit in that category.

By emotional and moody I mean that you wrote on January 24th a long message saying:
Let's try and make this spring as exciting as possible. There has been a lack of motivation from me because there has been a lack of motivation from you. Let's all change that!

Don't you think it's a bit quick to change your mind 180 degrees? Also, the whole motivation thing is a blatant lie/excuse. If you quit this place, it's not because the members are lacking motivation, it's because you don't want to deal with this anymore. That's fine, but don't cope out by blaming the members.

It also sucks that right after a long speech to rally the troops you decide to quit. It's kind of misleading to give the impression that we're on the right path only to quit a month later.

Sorry if that sound harsh.

where will you be going when rmn shuts down?

Yup, for me, it's the end of the line. I really couldn't bother to go back to either:

a) an inactive community or a community which will take years to become as popular as this place.
b) a community where you have to create forum threads, that's become archaic compared to the layout here at RMN.

I'll be moderating the Enterbrain forums but that will be a job and I'll need to be all nice and all customer service like and it certainly won't be half as much fun.
