Hi and welcome to RMN!

Thank you :)

1.) If you buy through STEAM or the forum store, it'd be in your Forum Client Area section. They key is always listed there. IIRC, you can activate it 7x. If too much, just pm support again and they'll reactivate your key. I recommend buying through one of those 2 just for keepsake. Technically if you buy through the store, you get an email with your key and you can always request it again if you lost it for some reason.

Does anyone have experience with this or is it just assumptions?
How long does it take on average to get a reaction, just briefly. Do you get your new code within 24h or rather a week?
:D I do not yet have a steam account and frankly, since I don't bother with pc games (konsolero really. PC only quakelive and rmxp)

2.) Technically you should only install it in one PC. But Degica/Enterbrain doesn't really care as long as it's not like you're letting other people use it or something.

I'm sure my mom and dad wouldn't even be dared, but how would "enterbrain know" if they don't monitor anything at all and I install 7 copies on 7 pcs ;) :p

3.) Yes. Support Ticket. They're pretty fast and one of the mods here is actually in RM support. (aside from me).

haha ok, scratched the intro ^^

4.) Hardware IP/Checks? It's really simple and I'm not really sure what's the issue with it. You only activate the key and register your name with it. That's it.

Oh ok. What I was aiming at is that some (mainly digital) purchases do get bound to hardware specs and/or track your ips to "prevent piracy". Or at least that's what rumours say, and I believe some software does that (like my nero from yeaaaaars back which would in no way run on any other system than the one it came with) :o

a.) VXAce still offers 3 layers but not as wieldy as Rm2k3/XP.
b.) VXAce has unlimited tilesets, that's not really an issue anymore.
c.) RGSS3. VXAce has a lot more support and power than XP could provide.

sounds promising if "they" did away with regular vxs flaws (= I guess I'll check it out when my xp trial expires, and once ace runs out I might be able to decide *lol*

And I'm at the same vein as Kyrsty, I thought a certain someone finally returned. Guess not ;-;

So there really was a user named "nub", huh? xD

DR needs help for "Redemptory beasts" (rpg maker xp)

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/10634-more-than-4-show-choice-options/

Is it possible to quickly/easily reproduce this result (6 choices on the same page instead of 4 by simply adding another choice after branch end) in rmxp?
when i try, I will still get 2 pages and have to confirm 1of4 on the first to see the others.

My way around it is quite simple, if you need a bunch of replies, I'll make the last one "more" > show choices. However, this takes 1 or 2 choices away everytime (depending on wether you make the 1st choice "back") and looks extremely untidy, the branches embracing each other instead of mere followups, and still 4 results a page instead of 6/8/...

Is that a difference in rgss and 2.0 or something? :o

DR needs help for "Redemptory beasts" (rpg maker xp)

Thanks again, I knew that had to be as easy as I imagined :)
But it will take a few minutes before I'm actually done, gotta do that for 7 trade items in 12 merchant conversations and can't really use common event (i think?) because the checked amount/price (40 rice/20 rice etc. pp.) varies ^^

anyway, exactly what I had in mind and looked at for hours but didn't thought it would be boolean... only checking yes/no 0/1 true/false xD

trust me I didn't put the 20 spoilers intentionally. I "only" wrapped the whole deal in once, because of the wall it was and not everybody likes those things. After submitting it, I couldn't even bring the "show" button to work. It's forever hidden *lol*
Hmm I mainly use irfanview for the menu commands such as resize/resimple and others. Frankly, I can't even see any tools like a pencil or something in it's toolbar :o
For painting I used... well, paint. Now added gimp, and will see about photoshop some day.

ps: any disadvantage choosing greater than 39 instead of greater/equal 40 comes to your mind?

[Poll] What do you think about multiple endings?

Hmmm, that's an interesting contribution. One game I remember to have different endings, and where I actually enjoyed this very fact (so again, it depends ^^) is Silent Hill 2. Story is one of it's strongest points, and confusion/wondering makes most of the story ^^

Ok, image editing aside. I got that down as far as any issues and additional programs are concerned. Not spriting or anything ^^

question 6
I've established a marketplace a la "secret of evermore". For those of you who do not know it, you basically start out with tons of money (or some freebies via secret), buy cheap trade items, and trade further to get your desired benefits. Nothing suprising really.

I got everything down (traded through it like 20 times to check at the various stages), except for the "quantity check" of cheap tradables that come in ridiculous amounts.

I did establish it for the unique ones (conditional branch: chocobo egg in inventory -> "get lost" else "Wanna trade to get my chocobo egg?"), the upgradable ones
(conditional branch: variable tinmail = 0 "want a tinmail for your stick?" else conditional branch: variable tinmail = 1 "want the ironmail for your tinmail?" else
"I'm sold out"), the money ones ("Wanna buy for 20000?" Choices yes/no; when yes;conditional branch: gold > 20000 +item - 20000 gold; else "you don't have enough money)

What I really need though, is a check on wether I have the required 40 rice to trade for 10 spices, the 80 pearls for 10 feathers etc. pp.
I don't see any feature really helping me out, without putting in days...

By now I have 18 merchants at the market, and most of them already have like 3 conditional branches / 6 possibilies on their event page. If I planed to do something like

"when buying 40/20/10/5 rice/spice/pearls/chickens -> variable ": +40/20/10/5"
it would double (or quadruple? who knows, I've lost track already) the already high amount of branches and literally take days.
Also, even if I did that: when buying additional 40 rice to the 70 already carried, doesn't this make the actual item count 99 and variable 110? So despite having only 99 items i could spent 5x20 trading since I connected my securitycheck on the variable? Where is the "conditional branch: if item >= number" >.<

your thoughts please :)
IF it has to come to scripts and you know a good solution, please don't hesitate to let me in on it. I can't do it myself, but I fiddled around with pre-existing scripts in the past and was able to slightly modify them for my needs. any input is appreciated really.

Need Help with Desgin and writing story for my game

I don't really see what exactly you need a script for when "time traveling".

You can just build a past or present map with a kid character on it, and a futuristic map (futuristic tileset made by someone else would seem best; donwload and import). Then you place some kind of "portal" on the first map, and add an event that "only" does two things: ->transfer<- you to the other map (maybe add some fancy animation, fading, or whatever effects), and ->change character graphic<- to adult.
Ofc any of that works for male<->female and young<->old in each direction.

For now I'll assume you went with rpg maker xp (which you probably didn't, but that's all I have infront of me): open your project, and an inside map.
build the walls like this

|_|

and select the grey block next to the layers. drop it where the fourth wall would close the rectangle and place a doubledoor. rightclick the event: trigger: player touch or action button: set move route (this event) "change graphic" (click the open door); set move route (player) "move forward, move forward"; set move route (this event) "change graphic" (click the closed door); set move route (player) "change graphic (click a girl that looks somewhat similiar in terms of haircolor and such).
If necessary, you should definitely find all the stuff you need when opening an event. it can move your player around without input, transfer him to other maps or parts or the map, change his graphic, name... and dozens more

I mean I always consider finally asking for neat custom scripts, but in easy cases like this!? noway, completely unnecessary oO

Things should go like this for complete nubs to everything, from ruby, over rpg maker to image editing, pixelart etc.
1.get some easy mapping practice, and actually workin gameplay mechanics/combat driven by a shallow storyline
2.get used to making database entries and handling the materialbase, this will be encountered during gameplay mechanics anyway
3.make some events that take care of your easy needs. treasure chests that give you an item, and best only do so once and remain opened. People that tell you one thing now, and another some other time. simple stuff like that might already make u a bit more familiar with
4. switches, self-switches, variables, conditional branches. All of that doesn't require programming skills or scripting. It's simple logic, the software offers a user friendly interface so you don't have to speak ruby with your pc :P
5. with all those and common events plus things i forgot to mention, you can do a lot of event coding.
6. advanced/superior mapping, own ressources, shades and fogs, animations and charsets blabla
7. When you notice you aren't really getting any further and unsatisfied with your progress because some sort of base has been established, look into scripting

It varies depending on the user, but in your case I don't see any benefit riddling over complex stuff at this point. sorry ;)

First and foremost: Which software version do you use (2k, 2k3, xp, vx, vx ace)?

Comeback nub "at work?"

Don't worry, I can take it :D
Nevertheless, thanks for caring and welcoming me ;)

It's not that I'm bothered by it at all, it's just that all this "troll+flame" lobby has become quite boring and way to big. It used to be funny when everyone was age 12, interwebs was kinda new, and some of those people were actually reaching their goal of being either hilariously funny or seriously upsetting somebody.
Nowadays it's just average and subpar imho xD

Again, despite my explanations I don't worry, I'm not surprised, offended or anything else. If it's fun for some, just let 'em try ^^

If I may criticize a bit
Of course you do, why else would I upload it ^^

being fellow newbies and all, I love the layout of this cathedral's courtyard.

Thanks. I guess it's somewhat okay, but still needs massive overhauling.

I think it's a pretty detailed set up, but what I have qualms about is the use of that, red table(?) next to the fountain. Aesthetically, it just doesn't look good next to the fountain (in my opinion). If you placed it somewhere else, or got rid of it entirely, I think it would make the map more appealing. It's like, kind of sticking out rather sorely.

Not exactly surprising. It's not a table, just a flag (the same as on the walls: represents an alliance with another castle). And strange enough, the blue flags can also be put on the ground, but not the red ones. I just layered it over a coat-tree xD No wonder that looks dumb. It's on my to-do-list along with the floating roofs of the north and south halls. I was thinking of pillars to have an outside-storey, but did not yet find anything that looks slightly believable.

That's my only qualms with this map. Otherwise it is a damn good map, very detailed. I love it.

pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaase, don't lie :p

Anyway I am returning the favor of saying hi since you said hi in my thread. I hope you find my insight helpful (or not, it's your map after all).

Sure do. thanks

What are you thinking about right now?

"Do I really wanna try and quit smoking, or should I just go buy a new pack?"
"Why on earth did this months wager come so short..."
"xxx" I kinda think about that often *rolleyes*
