Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure

Oh wow, I didn't even know there was a post here! Suffice to say the past few months have been exceptionally busy. I'm sorry for the late response!

As for Steam Deck... I'm not sure, I've never actually used Steam Deck. There haven't been any major changes to the controls, so if it worked before, it should likely still work now.

I'm actually just about to release an update! It should be ready soon- I'll update the page with it in a bit.

EDIT: Update 0.3.6 is officially live.

Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure

Good morning!

0.3.5 P2 had to be patched- there were a few bugs, including one major pathing bug that made progress past the "Now What?" quest impossible. The latest download has been replaced with the fixed version, so you can re-download it and move your saves over as normal.

You can view information about the bugfix here.

If you want to import your save files from an earlier version to a later version, follow these steps:
-Go to your old version of Ruphand, and navigate to the www folder.
-If you have saved files, there should be a folder named "save"; copy the folder.
-Go to your new version of Ruphand, and navigate to the www folder.
-Paste the old save folder into the new version's www folder.

Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure

Good evening!

It took a few months longer than expected, but version 0.3.5 P2 of Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure is here, bringing with it two more dungeons in the main story!

There's only a few more updates left until Chapter 3 ends. 0.3.6 will probably add at least two more dungeons, just like 0.3.5 P2 did- but because I've learned a few things during the development process of 0.3.5 P2 (namely "Do eventing and THEN do detail work, so you can build the detail work around the eventing"), I should be able to bring it out faster.

In the meantime, enjoy Ruphand 0.3.5 P2!

NEW CONTENT:

-The main story continues! You can now enter the ground floor of Cloudtop Palace.

-Two dungeons and additions to Cloudtop Castle Town are implemented as part of the main story.

BUGFIXES AND QUALITY-OF-LIFE:

-If your game has no save files, the Main Menu defaults to New Game instead of Continue.

-Additional tutorial dialogue points out the Journal when leaving the Earth Cave.

-A few minor bugs, such as a tile passability issue in the Castle Town, have been squashed.

Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure

Good evening.

0.3.5 P1 has been patched again. There was a bug with Sample code in the Fogbound Stair, Aeric Ruins and Aerialite Caverns that caused it to give the wrong item amounts at incorrect odds.

While it won't really have an effect (and, indeed, I failed to notice it in playtesting), I'd still suggest getting the patched version of the game before going into the skies.

Hi! Good thing I scrolled down on the main page and saw this on Latest Downloads!

I bet you can guess who I am on itch.io. Good thing I got inspired to check out your page! Otherwise I wouldn't have found https://doctorspacebar.itch.io/workshop-in-the-ironwood-grove

Cool titles!

Oh, hey! Good to see you on here- and thanks for reminding me about this page! I saw it in the analytics and realized... I forgot to bring up the recent patch on this page.

Speaking of which: 0.3.5 P1 has been patched as of the 15th. The patch removes a few softlocks and minor dialogue issues, and adds a "Colorblind Mode" to one puzzle room that didn't have it before, which can be activated at either end of said room.

Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure

Good evening!

Ruphand 0.3.5 P1 is live! This update advances the main story a little, while applying some much-needed bugfixes.

0.3.5 P2 shouldn't take too long to make, either, so keep an eye open! I've got a feeling that development is going to be much faster from now on.

NEW CONTENT:

- The main story continues! The rest of the Exiles' Retreat is open for exploration.
- One dungeon and (part of) one city are implemented as part of the main story.
- Some extra healable NPCs have been added. Keep an eye open for people who need Brill's help.
- This brings the total healable NPCs in the game over 25; vigilant players may find a new reward awaiting them!

BUGFIXES:

- Burn (and Frost Burn later in the game) should now be less finicky, particularly with Reviver Amulets and Phoenix Phormulae.
- The notice boards in Evrandel Castle Town and Highfort shouldn't trap you on them anymore.
- The Healer in the Lonely Assembly should grant proper rewards even if you talk to her early.

Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure

Good afternoon! 0.3.4 is out, and brings with it the Journal!

This menu keeps track of Brill's progress through the Main Story, as well as any side quests available to her. Not only does this help the player remember where to go next if they forget for some reason (such as, say, because of a ten month wait time between updates... I'll try to go faster next time, sorry about that), it also hints at places that might be interesting to check out.

The next update will most likely involve additions to the main story, and potentially fleshing out the World Map (specifically its north and south ends) a bit more.

MENU CHANGES:

-The Journal has been added to the pause menu. Clicking on it the first time in an existing save will also update it with quests the player already completed.

MAP CHANGES:

-A few minor bugs have been fixed.

-Billboards have been added in Evrandel Castle Town and in Highfort; examining these billboards will update Brill's Journal with all the side quests related to world map encounters in Evrandel and Kitaban, respectively.

Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure

Afternoon!

I've just discovered and fixed a bug related to the new recipe introduced in 0.3.3; the NPC would give you the incorrect recipe. I've uploaded a fixed version of 0.3.3, so downloading 0.3.3 again and moving your save should get the recipe right. If you already received the incorrect recipe, you should be able to talk to the NPC again and get the right one.

0.3.4 is still in the works. I'll have a few screenshots on the dev blog before long!

Ruphand: An Apothecary's Adventure

Afternoon!

It's been ten months since the last update (sorry about that- there was a lot to deal with, to say the least), but I finally updated the game again. This update advances the main story, with plenty of new treasures to be had and plenty of new enemies to face as Brill sets out in search of the Orb of Wind.

Next up, I think I'll add a few quality of life changes- the most important being a Quest Journal, where you can quickly see information on both the main story and side quests.

---

NEW CONTENT:
-The main story continues. Two new full dungeons (and some other dangerous areas) have been added. Once the Skystep Boots are yours, seek out a place to use them...

Update 0.3.2 is finally released! It's available on the Downloads page as usual.

This update will add a new area to the game. Jad's Folly is a large dungeon, big enough to be considered equivalent to three smaller dungeons. It can be unlocked at around the same time the most recent Main Story dungeon opens.

As a side note, I'm now using MediaFire to host all downloads- but the ads should be completely gone from all MediaFire links to Ruphand! You'll still be able to get Ruphand from the same places: the download links on the main post, the download button on top of the page, or the Downloads page on the dev blog. It's just that now, you don't have to see any more unwanted ads!

Next up- quite literally up, in this case- is the next main story dungeon.

NEW CONTENT:
-Jad's Folly has been added in Defia. These ancient ruins are initially closed off to the player. But once you've spoken to Kazu in the Silent Clan Village at least once, someone will be waiting to speak with you in the cliffs to the south; talking to her will begin the sidequest that lets you into Jad's Folly.

Graphical Updates:

-Early-game areas through the Barrier Wood and Levitt's Landing have much more detail work done, courtesy of Yanfly's Grid Free Doodads plugin!

Bugfixes:
-A number of smaller bugs have been fixed behind the scenes, such as one that caused Snøfløyen's Frozen Flame attack to ignore Defense.
