Kiddos Puzzcade 1.1

Thanks, Cash! :)

Played Chimera Report again today, for the first time in about ten years, and it's still as awesome as I remember it.

Yup, I missed the right date by one day D:

Pullover

Welcome! Yeah, there are quite a few buzzing games here and there, people making new games and reviving old ones, getting feedback, etc. This community feels like the last surviving community of the post RPG Maker apocalypse, and I find it to be pretty nice <3

Plus the Misaos are held here, I was surprised the award still existed.

A (NOT SO) NEWBIE INTRODUCTION

Welcome!

And hey, nevermind whether a maker becomes "outdated", just keep on using whatever you're most familiar with :) heck, I still use RM2K3!

Pokemon Nighmare: Invasion

This looks seriously great. I'm going to write a review on it.

What's the one cancelled game that you wish was finished?

I once wrote a review for a game that was supposedly so scathing that the game was cancelled... but the review wasn't even that bad!

Good times.

If only people would take in constructive criticism and learn from it instead of taking it personally, maybe we'd see many better titles in the RPG Maker world. It's a lot easier to take critique when we're working with a huge team instead of just by ourselves, and that perhaps is the big problem with 90% of cancelled RPG Maker projects out there.

Let's Play: Kiddos Puzzcade

Thanks for the LP! I'm glad you took the time to record this. It helped me see some (pretty big) mistakes I made that I originally overlooked.

For instance, that consistency problem where one can't push a rock to an apparently empty space, I'll make sure I never let that pass in my games again, since it makes the game's rules feel inconsistent. And yeah, the dark levels were unfair due to the narrow corridors that made navigation a pain in the butt, plus the problems with not being able to see certain obstacles before it was too late. All things I need to improve for my next games. Also, it's true that most puzzles were way more laborious than they were challenging, that's another thing I need to be careful with when creating such things.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll avoid these mistakes in the future. I'm sorry the game was a bit underwhelming (and at times laborious), I hope my next game is going to be better.

What's the one cancelled game that you wish was finished?

Chimera Report, definitely. That game had a commercial quality ABS, all done in freaking RM2K, which's an amazing feat.

Is it normal to spend more time browinsg RMN than actually working on my game?

So it's only downhill from here? D:
