Is it normal to spend more time browinsg RMN than actually working on my game?

Is there anything... beyond stage IV?

Friends and loved ones as testers: is there a way to make that work?

Different testers have different purposes, you can't have one type of tester and expect your game to be fully tested. You gotta throw it at a lot of different people before it's ready to go!

While you're definitely right, that's exactly my greatest fear. I mean, testing seems to be the hardest part to do right in a game development cycle, and I'm very afraid I'm going to forget something or simply screw it up completely. The more detailed I have to be in defining my group of testers, the greater my fear becomes that I'll fail.

Is there a way to keep solid intellectual control over how we design our testing groups, and how we study the data provided by them, so we don't get overwhelmed?

What are the next phases?

I guess you're both right. Still, I do need to get to my stuff ASAP. Heck, my game doesn't even have one finished map yet D:

Chances are, if you need to make a too ellaborate analogy to prove your point, you could simply be wrong.

You see, this situations is like if I had a beaver, and it was sliding on a buttery floor with a watermelon attached to its back... but this beaver can sing, and its singing voice sounds like Michael Jackson. That more or less explains my point.

Also, be on the lookout for blogs requesting testers as well! Maybe you can suggest a game-swap, and *gasp* network like that!

This is an excellent idea, actually.

[RM2K3] Looking for long lost Charsets

If you remember the name of the author, you could hopefully find them in Charas Project.

EDIT: wasn't this from GamingWorld's alternative RTP? Maybe it could be that someone from GW has it, in that case.

I am working on set of weapons in castlevania style, this however is called Lamevania.:

I will have to add more.

Looking pretty awesome! What editor are you using?

Also, @BizarreMonkey: uglier than a random RTP map? Unlikely :P

Exile's Journey

Everything is looking pretty good, I hope this ends up nice. Any luck with the puzzle ideas?

Puzzles! Looking for feedback.

You could start by making some simple sokoban-like puzzles, but then build upon them by adding some different features, like slippery floors or something like that. Also, maybe you could make something like a minecart puzzle where certain switches control the directions of the rails, and you have to get the rails on the right position in order to make the minecarts move to where you want them to be.

Another idea would be something of a "step on every tile once" puzzle, kinda like the Sootopolis gym in Pokémon Gen 3, but with some features that make it slightly different.

As for riddle puzzles, I'd recommend to keep the riddles themselves simple.

I'd recommend playing through Lufia II for some other ideas, that game is full of great (but mostly easy) puzzles. It contains some puzzles where you have to paralyze enemy sprites in just the right position in order to move on, for instance.
