it does lose some of its sense of mystery and difficulty the 2nd time around

at the rate you're going you'll finish easily.
some edits for the newest version:
lowered michelle's lvl 1 health back down to 10, but she does build up
gave michelle a gun
lowered the crowd control damage
and added 1 zombie to the each of the first hordes
escape was slightly modified without making it broken, but it's pretty much the same
and sounds like you are doing pretty good!
