"What's the hardest game you've ever played?"

"The game of life." he replied. A steely glare in his eyes peeking through the blinds, coveting the lawn of his neighbor.

My makerscore is still 0.

Please revive me, and make me a human being!

I don't have a cleric spell that revives AND makes you into a human! #_#

One way you can acquire makerscore is by testing games. That's how I got all mine: SUBTERFUGE. Ask around or check the Help section in the forums to see if there are any games in need of testers. (Although I would only test games that look as though they'll one day be completed).

If that doesn't sound good, you could always try making a game in your native language and then ask a friend or two to help translate it into English once it is finished.

Who said anything about seasonally appropriate viewing?? My suggestion is Hugo.

It's a movie I've wanted to watch for a while now but never had a good excuse to sit down with. I only found out a while ago that its a Sorcesse movie so I'm super interested to see him direct a kid's film. Plus my sister told me that the book was really good.

Also, I've already seen this one so I don't know if its eligible: The Third Man. I would love to hear the club's thoughts on it. I really liked the movie but I don't know if its because its just a superb popcorn flick ala North By Northwest, or if there's something more poignant to it that I'm missing. Take my word for it though: Its terrific.

Get thee gone, Bed of Chaos.

Off with ye now! Blizzard Fist!

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

I'm playing Dragon Quest IX and it's making me feel like a kid again. So good.

Still haven't played IV yet. XD

What causes us to stop making our projects?

I think I've never finished any projects because I've never really started working on them. Its all development hell before any actually works gets done.

Like, if I knew exactly what I wanted for the game; all the plot points, enemy stat layouts, item tables, dialogue, artwork and sprites, mapping, and mechanics written down, I'd basically be set. Then its just a matter of actually putting it together into a game and doing the coding. THAT part is not the hard part. That just takes dedication and time. The hard part is eliminating any instances of going into the editor and playing with it in extended brainstorming sessions, instead of working on your game.

And for me, the major major obstacle is the artwork and spriting. I can do the rest, but that's always what stops me. If your game doesn't look nice no one's going to want to play it.

Which may seem rather pessimistic, but when your one screenshot is of green grass tiles and endless blank blue skies with a 32x32 spikey haired head no one is going to play that. Its just facts.

I have finally started composing music (for realz this time) and I am looking Mitsuda's music in CT for practice and tricks. What do you guys think about that? Is Mr. Mitsuda a good composer to learn things from IYO?

Mitsuda is a fine muse for your music, but if you want Japanese composers, don't discount Koichi Sugiyama, Yoko Shimomura, Tomohito Nishiura (probably my fave), and loads of other people that don't make music for just video games.

One of the more intriguing aspects of Koji Kondo's work for me, was realizing that he to write songs in Ocarina of Time to be played by players on their flute. So he basically needed to start with these 3 notes melodies and then morph that into a full thing. I always thought that would be really hard, but I have no idea, honestly. Maybe it was really easy!

Why yes - I AM making the world's first vaporwave jRPG

When I saw this I read "microwave jRPG"

What are you thinking about right now?

Cats > Dogs > Hamsters > Gerbils > Chinchillas > Birds > Hyenas > Giraffs > Turtles > Fishies > Tigers > Coyotes > Bats > Gorillas > Bears > Cats > Dogs > Hamsters > Gerbils > Chinchillas

I only had time to watch Prince Achmed (been busy doing inventory all this month). I had never seen anything like that before! I think that if you had shown me that in 1995 I wouldn't have thought much of it. But now that CGI has become such old hat, its really amazing to think on how they pulled off all of this with only shadows and camera tricks. It makes me wish that some new movie tried this style again. I had a bit of a hard time following what was going on, though. The version I watched didn't have subtitles.

It made me think of artwork on greek vases.
