What you're looking for this case is not an image, which will be locked to the screen instead of the map. You're looking for a fog.

Make a fog the size of the map you want it for. To determine this size, multiple the number of tiles per 32.

20 x 15 map = 640 x 480

You might need to take many screenshots depending on how big the map is. Put them together using software such as Photoshop. Now, you can do whatever you like on a different layer above it and save that layer as a .PNG file.

Import that picture as a fog and call it in from the game using the command Change Map Settings -> Fog Graphic. Make sure the zoom is at 100% instead of the default 200%, and you'll be good to go!

Hey! This seems like a cool game. I see lots of RTP mapping and it reminds me of our first project. You should upload better quality screenshots, by the way!

I'd love to make some atmosphere-like fogs for some of your more important maps in my spare time if you'd like to have them (here's an example of what a map can look like with them). It could make some of your maps stand out a bit more. Let me know if you're interested and good luck!

I thinnk that maybe the most important factor is that Final Fantasy 8 was the first FF for many people. That's usually why older people like FF6 or FF7 better. It's just like Happy mentioned above me.

Done with the chapter as well. 36 days and Lv. 9. This was a most fascinating experience.
