i literally did not mock him at all. this is what i'm talking about. can people not differentiate between what is a joke not meant to be told at the expense of another and what is actually hostile.

i don't have a grudge against you and have no idea why you would think that. also since it's been inactive for a month i feel it's safe to tell you that thread was also a joke and the purpose of it was both to argue with people who took it seriously and also argue with people who were in on it so i think it did not fail at all. my post was not actually about you regardless of my usage of that thread as a microcosm of this whole issue. let it end

it's an action figure in front of the sky with a rainbow and cloud and also the sun and it was taken with a camera using a person's hands to operate the camera and place the action figure. not to make the rainbow or move the sun though. only god can do that.

that's a good point. i had all but forgotten about the rumble pak controversy and sega/sony's documented unscrupulous acts. unless anyone can provide an explanation for this behavior, i think there can be no arguing against nintendo being, at the very least, the most moral game company.

there isn't any "need" for it but if we stripped things that weren't needed out of conversations I would probably shoot myself. backhanded compliments and ribbing are part of every day life. or at least my life. I work in a restaurant though. it is a place of fire and cusswords. don't do a cuss tho..

anyway, I've been responding to this topic with the forum in mind, but I do think there is a significant level of what is not necessarily hositility but, for lack of a better word, I am going to refer to it as "people trying to be funny while being crass and failing" in the reviewing part of this webzone. I think this may be because certain people think writing with a snarky tone automatically leads to comedy? I don't know. This nothing to do with criticism, also. Some of these reviews do indeed contain constructive criticism that would be helpful to the author, and some of them don't, but this has shit all to do with the tone of a review. It seems to me that a fair amount of reviewers have a negative tone in mind before even beginning to write, and while it is fair to feel a certain way after playing a game, reviews should attempt to be objective. What happens instead is that a sardonic voice is laid on top of all the information contained regardless of whether or not the reviewer actually liked any aspect of the game. Whether you believe reviews should be written for the designer or for the player, this isn't really helpful. or funny. especially not funny.

I had like five reviews I was thinking of when I wrote that and they're all within the last two months or so chances are you've read one of them! I won't be linking to anything but to say the least all faux-lp reviews are included

I don't know why but I guess I'll reiterate that I do not really sense a lot of hostility on the forums. Right now, at least. The sassiness towards the staff and the general feeling of animosity during the "LL saga" were palpable, but then you have people complaining about others being mean in threads like this one

I'm not being facetious. there's like one guy who is genuinely being a prick in there ((funnily enough the same guy that recently posted a bunch of words about how I'm a dumb internet troll nerdface poophead)yeah I said it link you a busta) I really don't get that and it and other instances have colored my view of this discussion. Like, unless you really felt everyone in that thread was being malicious for some reason, it's one guy. tell him to quit being a dick and be done with it. I know this is just one example, but I feel like it illustrates this issue well with regards to the forums. there's a few people that are jerks sometimes. to explain this in the nerdiest way possible, it's not a hivemind of internet goblins that crawled out of the mines of moria led by the balrog (karsuman.) it's just smeagol or perhaps a spider. knock him off a cliff or w/e and call it a day. that's all. My favorite sonic boss as the squeeze tag machine.
