What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

RADIANT HISTORIA!

avatars

I wanted to use this one but wasn't sure if it crossed the line or not.

Which game was the biggest disappointement for you?

author=Darken
I try not to get hyped for upcoming games.

Me, neither. If it draws my interest, I play it...hopefully I'll end up pleasantly surprised by the experience.

The Homosexual Menace

One time for fellow trinis.

No time for ignorance and homophobia.

What are you currently reading?

The Anthropology of Medicine: From Culture to Method. Not sure if I want this next degree to be in medical anthropology so I'm studying up on it.

@Kindredz, You're joking right, if you really think that there is some almighty power that has our entire future written out or that there is no power to the many individuals that don't work in the government then you need to get your head examined. Slavery, Women's Rights Movement, and Gay Marriage. I'm pretty sure each of those went against "Fate" and Government plenty of times.

Lol. Please, Lowell_Richards...if you don't mind, could you please enlighten me as to why you feel the plight of video game pixels are comparable to slavery, women's rights, and gay marriage?

Ireally dislike it when people use the "oh you don't like it you must be jelly/insecure" argument.

The bolded word "I" means that it's a personal problem. Personal problems have personal solutions. In other words, if it bother you, avoid it. Problem solved.

It's fine to not agree that it's a problem, but writing off the entire subject with an ad hominem is ignorant and close-minded.

You don't seem to grasp the fact that you are also being ignorant and close-minded by telling people how they should view something and feel just like you do. We don't. Period. Accept it. You can't control our thoughts any more than we can control yours. The only thing we can do is avoid what we do not like...but I guess that's complicated, huh.

Speaking personally, it's not like I have a problem with looking at attractive women. I mean, I enjoy porn. But there's a time and a place, you know?

Who determines what that time and place is...you? Big government? Or are grownups allowed to make that decision themselves. By telling other people what time and place they can or should enjoy something, what does that say about you?

When you put unnecessary sex appeal in everything, it becomes about the sex appeal instead of more interesting or important issues.

Personal opinion. You learned about those in the second grade so we won't retread on that basic.

I'm not saying female characters should never be attractive or even deliberately designed to be sexy, but when it's the only thing they ever are in games, then it's a problem.

Who makes that determination? Again, personal opinions being regarded as rules of god is silly and DOES speak to deep insecurities, whether one admits them or not. People who lack control of their own life always try to exert control over other's thoughts and actions. What? That's an opinion? You're right. So ignore it and don't let it bother you. See? Was that so hard?

In a serious work, no character should be a sex object first and whatever else second, and females consistently get the short end of the stick.

Opinion.

You do know, if a woman gets pissed at a game in this sense, stop freaking paying attention to that game. It isn't like an actual man, being sexually abusive to you, the women, to your face. It is a game in which isn't being forced onto the buyers. If you don't like it and feel it is wrong, you turn your head. It isn't real, and if it were real, would've been stopped already.

Also if you're feeling bad for the FAKE woman in the 'said' game, then you need to get locked up and treated for being mentally insane.

A game, is a game, is a game. No need to start pulling some feminist bullshit out. that would be like Peta being pissed at fake animal abuse.

You're making too much sense so get outta here. People with nothing important to do or think about need something to argue about...lest they realize that they have nothing important to do or think about. I don't know anyone that will accept the fact that they and their thoughts are useless in the grand scheme. Making people feel that they and their thoughts are important and valid...the fuel that America runs on.

Edit: @Crimson_Legionnaire: I don't have a problem with either of those characters. A guy not having a shirt on doesn't make him a sex object, though. His lack of a shirt is a statement of his manliness, not an attempt to attract female gamers.
Double standard accepted!

This argument is endless

The cycle:

Begin Loop
>Post about morals and female-game characters in general
>Someone objects and starts complaining
>Multiple Post about someones opinion
>Another person gets "disgusted" and starts complaining
Repeat

and on and on...

You're right. But nobody actually read your posts or even made a comment on them. This conversation goes on and on and nobody gives a fuck until some admin/moderator of this site is going to close this thread.

let's try to speak some Xhosa.
andi so stabani. incanca yam yeyamantobi.

I read his posts and agreed. I just have a harsher way of saying things than he does, and people take exception to harshness, which why I was singled out as hating women and gays or whatever, lol. People that know me would find those two accusations wrong to the point of hilarity. No one here knows me, though, so I don't really care what they think.
