Final Fantasy XV
This game is going to change things...and not in a good way, imo.
All this crap they put into this game makes me seriously wonder what the hell this is going to cost. Not that I'll be spending a dime on it, mind you...I'm just curious considering all the money that's been spent already hyping this game all throughout the galaxy and back again.
This game makes me feel odd. I really feel like nothing is going to be the same again after this comes out. Maybe it shouldn't be released at all... :\

[Poll] What RPGs should get represented in a future Smash Bros.
Discrimination within the narrative
I'm currently rewriting Forgotten Majesty, a game demo that I made years ago. It was one of the few games that starred black/brown characters but discrimination was pretty non-existent. In the new narrative, while outright discrimination still isn't a part of that world, there is definitely what I would term misunderstanding. The main character's family and their people gain their abilities through a bond that they have with the land that they walk upon. Touching the ground gives them vitality, health, and power. People in other parts of the world use artificial means to gain similar effects...so when the main character visits the mainland for the first time, many people look at him like "Why aren't you wearing shoes? Oh...you're one of them. Is it true that you can heal without medicine?" I didn't want to make the game with black people totally about racism but culture-clashing is touched upon in a thoughtful way.
Mobile Gaming - Is this Really Gaming's Future?
author=Ratty524author=KindredzWhat Sooz is making fun of your post for is the fact that not only are microtransactions not unique to mobile gaming, but aren't inherently bad when you look at the examples where it has been used correctly.
The feature that concerns me, yes...because that could end up being the future of all gaming. We're pretty much there, already...the most popular, successful games today(mobile or not) tend to include microtransactions.
If you know of any *popular* games that don't include them, then great.
For the most part, I agree with Craze's post in that the mobile platform isn't really at a point where most game genres can be viably recreated for it.
A good point brought up is how difficult it is to even find games on the platform. I don't even know anyone who does LPs of mobile games.
He was making fun? Oh...didn't realize that was a child that responded to me. My apologies.
Microtransactions not being unique to mobile gaming...I actually brought that point up. I do see that I wasn't very clear in explaining the problem. You can come home and turn on your computer/console and play whatever game you want...your cell/tablet, however, is usually with you all of the time. If you haven't played it in a while, it will remind you. It'll interrupt your phone calls, your work, your day...everything. It's invasive.
Again, I'm a bit older now than I was when I first got into rpg making(even older than I was when I first started posting here years ago) so maybe my perspective is different. In my away time, I got married, became a father, and was able to live a good life that I'm not seeing other so-called "gamers" doing. Late twenties, early 30s with the maturity, lifestyle, and mindset of a teenager...that is not a good thing. Who am I to judge, though? It's not like many gamers would actually accomplish something meaningful if they *didn't* give all of their waking moments to a game that someone else created...or maybe they would...? You'll never know until you get sense enough to control your own life.
Smash your controllers, smash your shit, smash your kids.

I once threw a 360 controller out the window of my 12th floor apartment into a parking lot across the street. It was foolish. I missed multiple impact guards in a row in Soul Calibur due to internet lag and needed to take it out on something. Technology usually explodes in spectacular fashion... unfortunately the 360 controller is pretty lame. The plastic is too bendy so it doesn't explode other than the rumblers.
*prevents tears from welling up after realizing how old I am now* Never change that avatar.

FF7 remake. It's a thing.
author=Blindmindauthor=KindredzI had these same feelings. I enjoyed Nomura as an adolescent (lol..), but his storytelling approach is pretty sophomoric.
I have zero faith in Square Enix. The guy in charge of the FF games right now has no idea what makes Final Fantasy games "Final Fantasy". It's like if the worst of the rpgmaking community won the lottery and found themselves directing rpgs for the biggest RPG name known. He is making games for and about himself.
No personality, no heart...everything is about being pretty and empty. FF7 came out over 20 years ago and people STILL try to use Cloud/Sephiroth for their internet screennames. The FF games have gone from players caring too much when a character dies(FF7) to players actively wishing for the main party to be murdered violently(FF13).
I don't even want to think about what this guy will do to FF7...
Hopefully they can leave the game's script generally as-is, hire some quality actors, and emphasize the appeal of updated aesthetics, where SE undeniably shines. The original game squeezed such artistry into low-res backdrops and jagged pixel characters, that it'd be an absolute disgrace if they can't conjure up the same magic with today's technology.
But yeah, trying to remain optimistic. XD
...so Toriyama's not directing? Hmm...if he's totally out of the picture then I may be able to get on board with this.

Mobile Gaming - Is this Really Gaming's Future?
Is mobile gaming the future? I really hope not...pouring tons and tons of time and money into micro transactions does not bode well for the future of gaming. Games need more love and less addiction.
