Sensible people don't even give a fuck. Seriously, just buy whatever you want/has the games you want to play.
Personally, I own all three of the current consoles. (Though in hindsight the PS3 was sort of a waste. InFamous and RE5 are pretty good though.)

Why are a lot of us dicks?
I don't know, I think this is the reason that I stopped going on the forum so much. It's just too much shit to deal with all the time, so I decided to focus my attention more on the gamepages and stuff. I'm a really calm, nice person IRL, and I've tried to make sure I am in the forums, although I don't know if it worked or not.
It seemed like this was a recent thing too, one day everybody started to get pissed off about everything that wasn't being super nice to them. I think a lot of the negativity people see is just criticism that they're taking way too seriously and harshly. It makes me not want to contribute much anymore, because I feel like I'll just be attacked for whatever I say.

That is pretty much the nicest way possible to say you need to improve your mapping, so I don't understand why you're taking it so harshly. Just do what they said, look at other VX games and see how they've mapped differently than you, what they've done better, etc.
