LINKIS'S PROFILE
Well, I'm an old guy, 71(crap,there goes another year:( who loves RPGs, especially Action, Adven., ever since my older brother got me hooked on The Legend of Zelda.
Would LOVE to create a game of my own. Even purchased the ACE program, but got frustrated when I could not even make a decent town river :(
But that's ok, I still love these independent games..
KEEP THEM COMING :)

Not sure if you trust my Google search abilities or not :)
Also found this on PC Tools website. They really were purchased by Symantec :)

Bad news ed,
Read your post and went right to google..looking for Threatfire.
Sad to say, threatfire and PC Tools ain't no more :(
They were purchased by Symantec/Norton and will no longer update to keep you safe.
"Threatfire no longer a standalone product
This is probably old news; Symantec has taken ownership of PC Tools and embedded Threatfire into an Internet Security Suite. Deja vu of BoClean."
Found that and several other notices on google saying you can no longer update Threatfire :( Sorry ed

No ed, being a good, in my eyes, is a good thing :)
I'm 69yrs old OMG :) and many times wish I had gotten into computers a lot earlier in life.
What I forgot to mention was I checked my downloads file and found what I believe was the item that caused the virus. I purchased the apps on 11/11/13 but there was a download dated 11/8. It was the only download and I'M POSITIVE that I did not download it. Absolutely positive !!!!!
That's why the timing was excellent.
The guy I had come over to fix the virus also downloaded the free apps for: Malwarebytes, CCleaner and Smart Defrag so I should be OK for now...I hope :)
Thanks for the interest and helping me.... Have a great geekday :)

oh but edchuy, you must be a geek :)
I in fact did try google. Of course, if you don't know what search question to use(or if not a geek :) you may not get the results you really need.
I did get some results, most were positive. Not what I was expecting :)
I use Google search requently.
Had original Sys.Pro Care software that I used for a yearfor free. When I got the message it needed to be renewed, I got the new software and paid for the upgrade with CC. When I did a scan it came back with 97 problems and when I clicked to remove problems, was told I needed the key to continue.
I found that they were supposed to automatically send the key in an email. I never received the email. Called the company 800#, got very nice Indian person. Allowed him remote access and after 45min. was told all fixed BUT that I had several problems that they could fix remotely for $200. Told the nice person, no thank you and that was the end of it. Until I tried to use it that night.
Same results and still needed the key to activate.
Called them and representative said I had to send an email requesting the key.
I told them either they send the key or I was cancelling the purchase. Was told I would have the key in a few hours.
Next afternoon....STILL NO EMAIL so the software was useless.
That afternoon I got a VIRUS saying the FBI found I was downloading and selling child porn and for a fee they would unlock my computer.
Maybe I was wrong but trying to get the software to work and fighting with the company and finding so many names involved in the deal, then the VIRUS at the same time made me VERY, VERY suspicious that it was Sys.ProCare that caused the VIRUS since I told them I would cancel the deal if I did not get the key.
oh, and I did note the Microsoft affiliation but anyone can put that info in a web page. I tried to question Microsoft but did not receive a response.

I recently had a bad experience with this company.
I'm not a geeky type person :) so I was wondering if anyone here has any information about this company and if they are reputable or not.
Right after my dealings with them a virus took over my computer and requested I pay to get it back. Had to bring in a geek and pay $75 to fix my pc so was curious if maybe this company loaded the virus on my system.
Hope this does not start a riot on rmn, just asking for a little info.
Thanks

Thanks Tosi-Taku, wasn't sure if I did the mixing of downloads right anyway so now I don't have to worry :)
