Tips for Playthrough and Soon to be Released Bug Fixes

Ohhh, so turning off the lamp does help! Jokes on me for never trying to turn it off near the Stalking Flesh, darn.

Hehe, yup! They're no threat once the lights are turned off. I'm aware it's not very clear this is how you're meant to play the game though so I'll probably have CrazyBabi tweak that cutscene when introducing those guys.

Played it and it was fun! I wish there would've been a more developed plot, but it works fine the way it is. On a different point, I really liked the atmosphere, the music used was quite proper, although I feel like you could've used more ominous sound effects here and there, I feel like there's too few eerie sound effects overall.

Feedback: (Spoilers ahead)

I don't quite know what the point was of being able to turn off the lamp, did it have any effect at all on enemies when you have it off? If there was a point to it, it's never properly explained or implied imo.

I feel like the flesh monsters have a way too far detection range.

Thanks for the feedback, Ozzie!

I agree that the game's (probably nonexistent) plot is a little vague. I think it might be a good idea to improve that, add some things to make it more digestible. The main problem with event games is that short time frame, so for me at least I'm prone to changing things every so often and making the end result nonsensical. Music/sound-wise, we tried tiptoeing that fine line of "creepy cute" so I guess we avoided making things too ominous.

We're probably going to work on an update soon-ish, so fixes will be made!

Mealade, sorry, but only games worked on during the event count, So sorry but you'll have to remove your post. Sorry, just following the rules.
The way I understood Marmalade's post was that they worked on the game through the month, so it includes while the event was going on. But even if that doesn't count, they said they're working on some updates for it so hey, it still counts? There are four hours left (at least over here) and that's enough time to fix stuff.

Yup! I started work on the game from early February to exactly the moment I made the post (which was a few hours ago). I don't think the timing is an issue, but if there's any other problem I can remove the submission. I hope it's all good though since I kinda rushed to finish the game to meet this deadline.

Release Maker Birthday~

I don't know if it's still allowed or not, but I saw I could still join so I did!

I submitted an entry originally meant for Seasons of RMN IV, which I was working on with my friend (CrazyBabi, who submitted something else for this event). We managed to finish it (as best as we could) so I thought I might as well put it in.

We're going to be updating it later, so if anyone plays it please send us some feedback if you find any bugs or the like.
Happy birthday, RPG Maker!

Little Maddie Dear Review

Many thanks for the review, Beregon! We've been hoping the game gets one for a while so I'm very glad to see this one pop up and it's very detailed too. From reading it I gather you managed to explore basically everything there is to the game, so thank you for the patience as well!

Since I was in charge of more or less the entire art department for the game I'm very delighted to know the presentation was what stood out for you. There's a lot of first-times for me during that process, having never really worked on assets for this type of game before, and it's good to know that turned out well. Music was, of course, mostly taken from the awesome RMN Music Pack so we'll take no credits for that.

I think your criticism was very on point. I wanted to design the game so that enemy encounters are difficult, but it seems most of that difficulty instead comes from the nonsensical map layouts in later levels. We should most definitely work on improving the level design for future work. I'm also glad you pointed out the issue with the monster introduction cutscene for the red chasers. I'm a huge fan of "show don't tell" so now knowing that the way that was communicated wasn't very helpful, I'll try to keep in mind to look out for stuff like that in the future. I was way too focused on trying to maintain the atmosphere for the game during production, which probably took a lot of our attention away from enhancing the more game-like aspects.

Thanks again for the review. It was very helpful, especially since we're in the process of finishing up another game right now too!
