Looking for some dungeon puzzle ideas...
author=Pokemaniac
Based on what LockeZ said about worlds inside books, you could have a thing like in some cartoons, where you kind of "hop" from story to story and play through a little tidbit of the story. It'd be a good way to jam a whole heap of different area types into your game, and if you had any significant history it certainly wouldn't be a bad way to hear about it.
That sounds like fun! Each level could have a different graphic and sound design.
Understanding Character sizes (while walking) in XP and VX
For the purpose of this topic, let's assume that I know nothing and am just starting to understand the basics of RM. And let's just assume that for all other purposes too.
So I downloaded One Night, the horror game made with VX, and I noticed that the main character's walking sprite is quite large. I compared the file graphic with that of the RTP for VX, and it dwarfs them! It looked more like the size of characters in XP
I'm just curious as to how this works. I'm sure this is an incredibly n00bish thing to ask, but it's these little tweaks and touches that make RM's so appealing to me.
Enjoying One Night as well- I'll probably write a review for it.

This is kind of how damage is dealt in Dungeons & Dragons. Ranged attacks deal damage through Dexterity (or agility here), and some classes can take feats (think equip-able skills) to change how they do damage.
For example, a Monk can take a feat to use Wisdom (their favored stat) to deal their damage, or a Swordmage can use Intelligence (so you don't have to pour points into 2 skills).
Being a big DnD player, I like this idea very much, but I personally wouldn't know how to go about implementing it into RMs. Good luck!

An examination of combining videos and gaming
author=Thiamor
Well if video production is something you're into, I'm creating a full length game. Always wanted to have someone into it, to make videos for it, so that I can later insert them into the game. It also will allow me to FINALLY have people on the credit list other than myself, for once. Thus making the game that little bit longer with the credits showing, plus the video cut scenes.
No offense, but I don't really want to get involved in another person's project before completing my own..

Throw a small test project together. At the very least we'll all get a good laugh. You're thinking outside the box here, that's a good thing.
This is an excellent idea. Ill see what I can put together!

I'm loving these "adult" sprites (in comparison to the kid-like RTP).
Gonna download now!
Edit: Well, not now, but you know what I mean... v_v

Best games for PS2?
Oh man, I love my PS2- gonna be hard to let it go when it dies =(
I would check out Champions of Norrath. (sp?) It's a 4 player co-op dungeon crawler ala Diablo or Baulder's Gate.
Make a character, smash some monsters, (and barrels) and get that +2 Rusty Sword!
Good times.

Woah! Now that's a good use of the first person battle system! Very inspiring for horror-game enthusiasts.
Is grinding a flaw in rpgs?
Personally, I wouldn't consider it 'grinding' if I enjoyed the battle system and game play. Grinding kind of has a negative connotation to it (to most I would think).
Some games make me feel like it's a grind, or chore, and others are just fun.
(But I like to spend extra time in my dungeons, just in case that boss is nasty).
-On second thought, I would think that if dungeons are well designed, then by the time you get to the boss of it, and if the player didn't run away from fights, then they should be ready.
