Final Fantasy 6 Remake!

Man, I've been missing out on some really interesting stuff on the mobile scene. Not that I'm terribly worried about it, but I didn't even know FF: Dimensions existed.

I really don't understand why people think FFVI was grindy at all. It's probably on the low end of grindyness in the FF series and commercial RPGs in general. I have grinded my way to having 7 or 8 characters on 99 with all the spells, and it felt like a breeze (economizers and exp eggs help a ton; I think you can get 2 exp eggs and economizers are dropped by the brachisaurs). I will say that a large part of my childhood gaming was about the grind. I just enjoyed maxing things out back then. Still, I have done this is several FF games, and VI was one of the easiest.

In terms of end game content, I agree that a lot of it in more recent games has been pretty shoddy, but if done right, it can add to the experience. A good example of fun endgame content is all the little sidequests that you can complete in the original Chrono Trigger (the sun stone, the trial to get the rainbow shard, etc.). They all play into the story in some way, some are related to others, and the rewards are almost always well worth it. End game bosses can be fun, if done right. I loved doing the FFVII weapons (still haven't beaten ruby, but I haven't touched VII in years...). Extra dungeons can add something too, but again, they have to be done right. The FFIV moon thing was boring as hell and made no sense (thanks for reminding me of that travesty LockeZ). The Dragon Den in FFVI I can barely remember, which isn't good in and of itself, but I think it could have been worse. I have to admit though, I did enjoy the final arena thing where you just battled through a gauntlet of enemies. Seems tedious, but I like those endless fight kind of things.

Sorry for rambling... had a lot to say. In short, I'm not holding my breath until they announce a TRUE remake, like that "fake out" FFVII trailer.

I know of one thing that having would make me a lot happier in life, but it's such a dumb thing to say that I'm not even gonna go there. Not like it's even physically possible in the first place.
Not that I'm going to push the issue that much, but you can't say something like that and expect us all to forget about it!
Well, it was like 2 in the morning when I posted that, and now it looks like I've really put myself in a bad position, so I'll bite the bullet. I'm a Xenophile. Forgive me if that's too personal and I've just ruined the topic by being weird or some shit.

So I don't know where that tangent is going. It would be cool if we made contact with another intelligent species? I mean, I know everybody would find that cool, but I'm sure you get my meaning.

I don't think that's too weird or anything. If I understand what you are saying correctly, you'd like to discover ETs, ones that we could communicate with and what not. Depending on the angle you take, that's a pretty admirable goal. The technology we would need to reach far enough out in space (within a reasonable amount of time) is still WAY out there, considering the next closest star is... I think about 3.1 lightyears away. Anyway, even if you mean it in a baser context, it's still better than what I've got!

Maybe just that high-stake poker game you announced? :>

You have no idea... I have been inundating myself with the WSOP, both this year's main event and last year's. I know a lot of people think poker is boring and pointless, but I would love to be able to play on that level. Maybe you're on to something here...

I keep thinking about what life will be like when I am not on a super tight budget.
This will only be true if you remain as a single guy for your whole life. If you ever want to start a family, the family will find a plethora of ways to keep you running a zero balance bank account, no matter how much you make.

Even if I were to start a family, it's a far off prospect for me. I'm not super young, but I'd like to live my own life a little while longer before I "settle down". And with kentona's grand words of wisdom, kids are now scarier than ever! (kidding... but not really)

So far, I really like your answers, and I honestly feel inspired to at least strive to have some more grandiose goals. It's better to shoot for the stars and fall short than to remain earthbound for life, right?

Also, I know that money isn't the root of all happiness, but it does allow for more freedom to make yourself happy. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

That one thing....

As I approach the end of my days in school, I keep thinking about what life will be like when I am not on a super tight budget. I spend hours daydreaming about things I will be able to do and/or buy once I have a much more significant influx of cash. I quickly realized, I dream rather small... most of the things I want are damn near basic amenities to most people already: a dishwasher, more room to fit all my crap, a decent gaming computer, a bed frame. It was an odd revelation knowing that I can pretty much get most of the stuff I want within the first few months of having a real job.

I started thinking more about it, trying to figure out what else I would want with greater means, and only a few more things popped into my head, most of which weren't any more lavish than any of the things I already listed (expensive trips and cruises and such). I was kind of disappointed with my lack of imagination on the subject. So now I have been trying to think of the apex of what I would do with greater means. In other words, what would be the top item on my bucket list? The one thing that if I could do it (or have it), I could say without a doubt or regret that I would die a happen man. So far, I have not yet come up with anything...

So I ask you, the wonderful members of RMN: What would that one thing be?

Any poker "addicts" out there?

Wow, I figured I'd at least get a few people that liked to play from time to time... oh well. At least I tried!

How bad is your eyesight?

A goody, I get to tell my story of how bad MY eyes are now.

First off, I was born cross-eyed (I also had a cone-head, but that's a different story... I also don't have it anymore, so not that interesting). I have a picture of me somewhere as a baby with a big-ass smile on my face, glasses about the size of my head and crossed eyes. It's actually a really funny pic, and I'll post it if I ever find it again. I had 3 or 4 eye surgeries in an attempt to fix my strabismus, but it only made a small difference. I am no longer cross-eyed, and people only notice my lazy-eye when I'm really drunk or tired.

My color vision is very good; got a 10 on that test, but I'm in class and did it rather quickly. I usually piss people off with being picky about colors (I have an issue when people call lavender or light purple pink; not sure why, it just gets under my skin).

I am nearsighted. Things get blurry at about a foot and things are unrecognizable at about 3 feet. My right eye is basically useless and is FAR weaker than my left. But, my vision is much stronger when both eyes are open. I started wearing glasses regularly at about 11, and will never get contacts, mostly because a friend told me I look high without my glasses. Not sure why, he just said that's how I looked.

Finally, I have monocular vision, meaning I literally have no depth perception. For some reason (probably the lazy-eye), my eyes don't work together, disallowing binocular vision. I hate playing sports that make catching integral, since I normally get hit in the face more often than not. I actually have to cheat on the driver's eye test so I don't get questioned. All the eye test does is see if you use both of your eyes at the same time, which mine don't. If you fail that, you can't drive. So, I fake it, get my license, and move on with my life (never had an accident and I've been driving for 10 years).

Oh man, the impact that Pom Gets Wi-Fi had. CRAZY.

I know, right?

I'm ALMOST in the top 100 makerscore... just 2 more reviews and I'll make it. I have a few in the pipeline; I just need to find time to finish them.

Also, kentona, your new avatar scared the hell outta me! Jesus, I nearly fell out of my chair.

Any poker "addicts" out there?

In all the years I have been coming here, I never thought to talk about my other hobby/addiction/second job: poker. Just curious if there are others out there that really enjoy the game and what type they play. I have heard of a TON of different ways to play, but I am always interested in learning new ways to play.

Also, I am curious to hear about strategies that people may have employed in the past that worked. Right now, I am trying to build a roll so I can comfortably play at higher stakes (I can only play live since I'm in the US, but it's better than nothing).

Just thought I'd throw it out there. Good stories are always good to read, too (first straight/royal flush, bad beats, crazy bluffs, etc.). Looking forward to hearing from all the grinders and rounders out there!

You guys are doing it right

It's good to get an outside in perspective and a positive one at that! Glad things seem to be going to well!
