Shadows of Evil: Wings of Time Deluxe

Ooh, thanks for telling me. I'll fix that for the next patch.

Shadows of Evil: Wings of Time Deluxe

Yeah, Dreyfus needed that nerf badly as well as more variety to him, so I gave him a skillset and the Steal command. At least now, people can do a bit more with him than just normal attack with him; granted his skillset isn't anything spectacular (compared to other characters' skillsets, anyway), but his Steal is very useful now, and even necessary for a few situational battles. He's still powerful, just not for the whole game; he gets his power mainly mid to late game when he starts getting the good weapons.

As for the Ocean Base issue, you have to collect the two Demonic tablets first before you can go through there. One is in the Sunshine Sanctuary near Island Village Agradia, the other is in the Metallic Mine which is south of Syrius. Once you have them, you can examine and open the locked door in the first room of the Ocean Base and continue onward.

As for Dance Lessons 2, it's in a chest in the Swamp near Nalladia Town and the Ancient Tree. It's not missable, so you can go back and get it anytime you need to. It also looks like you're missing #6, but you can find that one in the Sunshine Sanctuary.

There are 12 books in all, and two of them are permanently missable. #7, which is in the Ocean Base, and #12, which is in an optional dungeon in the present time you can go through in Chapter 7. You have to get these two on your first trip through or they're gone for good (and you especially should get #12 when you get that far, it's one of her best dances).

This one's one of the easier ones. Though I suppose none of them are that hard with level 99 characters.

Shadows of Evil: Wings of Time Deluxe

Ok thanks, I'll take a look at it and see what's going on there.

EDIT: Found the problem. Some of the events were messed up, and some code was messed up, too. I'll upload v2.0004, which will include the fix to this, as well as that text box not showing up issue with level 99 characters.

Should be up soon.

Shadows of Evil: Wings of Time Deluxe

OK, noted. Though I don't expect most folks to grind to 99 in this game, but it'll be fixed, regardless.

BTW, where did you grind to 99? Just wondering.

Shadows of Evil: Wings of Time Deluxe

No problem.

Can anyone help me find Melanie the second time? I've read the earlier post saying that she is definitely in Syrius Castle, but although I've crawled over the place several times, I can't find her. If she's down in the sewers (the one with the jumping golden arrows across the gaps) I can't get past the barred gate, so will need to know how to do that - though I'd assumed that was a place for later in the game.

She doesn't appear until Chapter 2 after driving all of the soldiers out of the castle. She'll be in the weapon shop. For future reference, when Melanie gives you her clue where to find her, it's usually a place that you won't visit until later in the game, so you won't usually find her until a bit later after you've advanced the story far enough, though for the later skills, you'll have to go out of your way, as well. Just keep playing, you'll find her.

As for the sewers, you'll go through in early Chapter 2, so don't worry about that place.

Another, totally unrelated, and probably kindergarden level, question. On the main menu, there are stats showing how much HP and AP a character has. Immediately underneath those is another stat (e.g. 75/ 88, or 52/ 63. What does this stat mean? Should I be doing anything with it?

Thanks

Those are the numbers used by the default EXP system in RM2k3. Since the game doesn't use the default EXP system to calculate your characters' EXP, those numbers mean nothing and they have no impact on the game whatsoever, so you can ignore them.

Hehe, nah. Wouldn't want it to be that easy. ^_^

Getting the Hex Shield uncursed is a two-step process:

1) First, you have to kill at least five optional bosses (the ones inside those purple crystals). Once you've done that, you need to go to the past and fly to the island that has a lake shaped like a plus sign (it's almost due west from Sunshine Islands). Enter the forest there, then head left and go up the stairs. Search behind the big tree there and you will find the Curselifter (also, you can get an Astral Spear, which is sitting in the upper right hand corner of that same map, and is Quinn's second best spear).

2) Once you have the Curselifter, go back to the present. Then go to Rikkania Sanctuary and talk to Father Haubek. He will ask if you want to uncurse the shield. Say 'Uncurse this thing, please!' and it will turn into the Heroic Shield.
The Heroic Shield is a very strong shield, but it can only be worn by Race or Dreyfus.
