Your First Game
Dunno if you guys here frown upon the console makers, but I just registered here from one of the console communities, and my first game was a 15-20 hour "epic" made with RPGM3. Not sure how epic that really is, but I did spend 200+ hours on it, maxxed out the data at 99%, and had 17 different endings, a minigame, branching story paths, and quite a few optional (and some hidden) side quests, depending on which guild you joined. Also had an alignment system.
Story was typical fantasy stuff...blah, blah. I tend to focus more on the technical details rather than the graphics (with RPGM3, that was easy...olol) and story is usually based on a broad framework, and filled in as I go along.
As I read in another topic here, and which I agree with, I tend to take a limited toolset (in this case, RPGM3, and hopefully soon IG Maker) and stretch the boundaries of what is possible using said toolset. Creatively, that's what keeps (kept) me going. Doing the unexpected given a set of tools.

Question re: 2k/2k3
I know in the topic for "Read this first, or you will probably be banned" (or however it's worded), it's mentioned that it is against the rules to ask for/link to warez, etc.
My question is, as 2k/2k3 was never legally released in America, aren't most people who are using it/talking about it/releasing games with it basically using pirated copies?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was released in Japan, and I'm sure there is an English patch out there, but as far as I'm aware, they were never released officially in English.
Thus my confusion as to why posting links to the pirated software is against the rules.
I don't care to use/pirate the software myself, and if I even cared to, a quick Google search would fulfill my needs, so there would be no point in posting here, asking how to get it.
Just wanna get a feel for the board and its policies. Basically, it seems like a "Don't ask, don't tell" scenario, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
EDIT: Hehe...I guess I was right...

In addition we will continue our support of legally obtained versions of RMXP. We, however, will continue with our "amnesty" policy towards programs never released in english speaking countries, such as RM2K and RM2K3.
IG Maker has been released! (English Action Game Maker)
Sorry about the bumpitty bump, but reading this topic caused me to register so I could post a question.
I'm not sure why everyone seems to think WAV files are such a bad thing. They are not standard (or as standard as MP3s), sure, and the file size is exceedingly large (which might cause some problems trying to fit a game file within the 150 MB max for XNA games), but WAV files are basically CD-quality. Meaning, for the most part, lossless. MP3s, even at 320 kb/s, still lose a lot of the dynamic range that WAV files preserve. I would think that if you are trying to upload to the Xbox 360 (which it seems what this software with the title change is being geared towards...the Xbox thing is called XBLIG-Xbox Live Indie Games, and the software is now called IG Maker...coincidence?), it would seem that you would want decent quality sounds/music, which MP3s are just not gonna give you.
Also, it does state in the software that when compiling this for Flash, MP3s CAN be used. And when using the AGPlayer to play other people's games, does it really matter how big the folder is? As I stated, with the 150 MB size for XNA uploads to the 360, WAV might be a bit rough due to file size, but otherwise, what's everyone's big beef about using them?

Hi. I'm some guy from another RPGM forum.
I'm one of the more active members of the RPG Maker Pavilion forum, and decided to register here due to a bit more IG Maker talk than at my home board.
To this day, I've not owned a computer (been gaming since the Atari 2600 days), as I'm more of a console gamer, and my internet is via my cell and PS3 (currently) and my Dreamcast and WebTV (in the far-flung past). I downloaded the IG Maker trial on my buddy's PeeCee. I'm interested in making a few of the game ideas I've had for RPGM3 (that were logistically impossible on that software) on IG Maker instead.
So...hello gentlemen and ladies!
