RPGMANIAC3030'S PROFILE

I now use XP and VXAce to make games. I usually play games that I would like to actually be in myself, and games that have fantasy settings. I'm open to all types of games. I compose music for my school band and orchestra, and I will probably compose music for my games. I prefer classical music over any other genre.

Gio Adventures

Maker: RPGMaker 2000

Introduction:

The year is 2189, third era. The game takes place in the middle of a war between two planets in Jalar Galaxy: The planet Siloh, and the planet Germanium. Siloh is the largest planet, yet Germanium has the best trained military, headed by Hayden. Siloh has fallen into turmoil, struggling to keep the Germanian forces away. Their only hope of defeating the army was a young man named Giovanni, but he disappeared a few months prior. He turns up, without his memory, and is left to face the facts. This is where you begin...

Characters:

Giovanni: The main protagonist. In the beginning, he has no memory of the events of the war with Germanium. He is found out to be a hero and a great warrior. He can wield two swords at once, and can use a special weapon called a VibroBlade, which was his weapon during the war. His main weakness is primarily is lack of knowlege, but also his obedience to whoever tells him what to do.

Alex: Alex is one of Giovanni's teammates and helped him in the early stages of war. He speaks very little, but his personality is rash and impulsive. He also uses swords like Giovanni.

Michelle: Another one of Giovanni's teammates in the war. She is from another planet named Imperius, and has a lot of magic in her arsenal.

Jimmy: Yet another teammate. Jimmy loves food, and will do anything to get some, as can be seen in Eternity War. He uses claws primarily, and his magic can help his team or weaken the enemy.

Kevin: Prince of Icix, and leader of a rebellion against Germanians. He wishes to travel the world in search of adventure, so he joins Gio and his crew. He uses spears, and is a healer.

Van: Shaman of Desix Village. He has encountered Giovanni before, so he is willing to travel with him. He uses spears and healing magic.

Mike: A dangerous pirate, supposedly from Pirate Town. Not much is known about him, but he is a strong force not to be reckoned with.

Borran: A warrior from Germanium. He only follows the party just because his lord was killed, and runs away when they reach Falla Castle.

Simon: General of the Germanium Army. He starts out as an enemy to Giovanni, but eventually helps in the end.

Hayden: Dangerous General of Germanium. He cares for nothing except his goal, which seems to be interplanetary domination. He is in search of something, and uses rage to find it.

Basic Information
Gods: Every planet has gods that control an element of the planet. Each god has a crystal that contains their power, which is left on the planet in case something happens to the god. No mortal can control the power of the crystal, the only one who can is called a corona. Coronas can communicate with gods and control their power. Hayden is able to use the power, but needs the Corona to complete it. Religion develops based on which god(s) is/are more important in life than others.

Time: All of history is divided into eras. An era changes when an event takes place that affects the whole galaxy and the lives of the people. Gio Adventures takes place in the year 2189, third era. Two galactic events took place so far that changed the era, which are further explored in "The Wishing Sword," and "The Second Era."

Money: The currency of Jalar is Gill, or Gold-In-Little-Leaflets, or money on paper.

Saving: You can save anywhere on the world map. When you enter a town, castle, or cave, you must use a save crystal.

Which games should the player play before starting this one?
If this is your first time playing Gio Adventures, then you should probably start with this one. If you play Eternity War first, much of the plot details will be spoiled, leading to a boring game where you know everything that's happening. If you played this before, probably "The Wishing Sword" and "Eternity War" are the ones to play, they both explain more about certain details left out in "Gio Adventures."

Final Note:
There are several side quests that give great rewards, leading to replay value if you don't find them all in one sitting. There is also an alternate ending, which I put in to add more replay value, in case you get the "Other" ending first.

EDITThemes & motifs
The main theme of Gio Adventures is war: how war affects both sides, etc. Another major theme is of power and how it can consume the lives of people who seek too much. From what I see in the world, with the war in the middle-east and of terrorism and communism, this game, and the whole series, attempts to amplify those concepts in our world by making them appear more extreme. Those concepts are in our real life; one wrong move and we might end up like them, on the path to "evil," as we may call it. In Gio Adventures, the main internal conflict is not only Giovanni's memory loss, but his friendship with his friends, and for other games in the series, the choice between love, peace, or friendship, and temptation. In GA2, Giovanni has to conquer the darkness inside him, which ends up affecting all around him. Hayden, seen as an enemy in the first few GA and GA2, also faces the same problem as Gio, but he loses his battle to the darkness, becoming an evil warlord.

Common motifs include the VibroBlade, wars, gods, crystals, planets and space, and Cores.
-VibroBlades are Giovanni's and some other's style of weapons. They represent how two different forces(Blade and magic) can combine to form one powerful weapon or team.
-Some type of war is in each GA game. Goes with the main theme above.
-Gods and crystals represent a vast power and the one thing that can make others have the same power. Goes with the power theme above.
-Planets, space, and cores also represent power, but also home and safety. Removing the main part, the core, would remove the safety and cause much death among the people living there. Think of it as the government and military in real life. If both are destroyed, the people may not stand a chance. People would argue too much, no one could get arrested, no rules, anarchy, too much freedom, etc.

Am I allowed?

I don't know if any of you have seen a video called
Hotel Mario: Missing Cutscenes on youtube, but there's this
one part where a nerdy-looking guy eats Luigi and does all of these
funny poses. I liked it so much, that I took some pictures of
him doing various poses, and put it into a 2k3 large battle animation.

One thing has been bothering me: Is this plagarism? Even if I give
major credit to the video, am I still allowed to use it? I'm starting
to think that I can't, since I haven't talked to whoever made the video,
so it would look like I'm taking the pictures of the guy for my own.
If I can't, I can always use the great RTP graphics...But if
I do talk to the guy, and I manage to be able to use it while giving
the creator credit with without a money transaction, would it
be alright then?

Need Castle Chipset for 2K3

So I need a chipset for 2k3, a nice inside castle. I couldn't find any decent ones, so does anyone know where I can find one? It has to match a fantasy setting, so nothing dark or modern-like. Thanks.

Item Synthesis

I wanted to put an item synthesis system similar to the one in Kingdom Hearts and other games. In Eternity War: Gio Adventures, there are a few new weapons that can be created using various metals and items. When the player has the right items, a new weapon can be made. Does anyone know how to make something like this? Sorry if I'm not specific enough!

Change class and party in 2k3

I have been working on a game for Gio Adventures, Wishing Sword(see my sig) and the characters you encounter are a default class, but I wanted to make them able to change classes. Some people are male and others are female, so I'm guessing that I have to create double the events for each gender. I'm not good with events like that, so can anyone give me a brief "tutorial" of classes and how I can successfully change them? Thanks!

Also, I have a party change system where a bar in a town teleports you to a map where you can choose who can be in your team. I originally wanted you to be able to make a new character by deciding their class and gender, much like DQ3. You were able to make up to 8 characters at any time, and you can delete them if you don't want that person anymore. Can anyone give advice?
