STATUS

It was a terrifying experience. I'm still a little shaken up by it, but I have to tell someone, so here it is:

I don't remember exactly when, but when I woke up this morning, there was something heavy on my face. I couldn't open my eyes to see, and I couldn't breathe. Panicking, I started thrashing and trying my best to scream, hopefully waking someone up so they can come help me. But from the lack of oxygen, all I could make out was a timid squeak. Fortunately, my sudden movements and noises startled the assailant and, in a blind panic, attacked me as it tried to get away. I could feel numerous cuts on my face sting like hell. Maybe I was bleeding, but I couldn't tell for sure. Plus, I had bigger problems to worry about.

Thankfully, I remembered I always kept a knife under my pillow (I'm kinda paranoid like that), so I grabbed it, yanked it out of it's sheath, and jumped out of bed, ready to face my attacker. I didn't know who else was up around me, but at the moment, I had a threat to deal with, so I had to stay focused. To get a better view of my situation, I quickly tapped the light on the bedside dresser. Finally, I gazed at my attacker for the first time. Seeing who it was, I breathed an annoyed sigh. I put the knife back in its sheath, climbed back into bed, and turned out the light. My attacker waited for about two minutes, then followed me back into bed, curled up next to me, and we both went back to sleep. The attacker was my cat.
