I've been spending more time making throwaway assets that I know will never be used just so I understand the fundamentals of how to make tilesets, busts, anatomy, etc.

It's great knowing that each asset created then trashed makes me that much better, but sometimes it's not the most encouraging.

This is why I’m mostly a rips and edits man. There’s no way in hell am I going down the customs route. There just isn’t enough time nor do I have enough patience nowadays to go through with it…and something else about a certain skill level in art talent lacking of the sorts, blah, blah, blah.

But I do give people like you and Luchino credit for trying to create your own custom assets from scratch for your games. It’s lot of extra work, but the payoff sure must be sweet. At least you can tell everyone after you’re done that, “Hey, I did this. I did alllll of it...” Unlike the rest of us that can only say, “Yeah…that’s mine…kinda, sorta….” (But we all know that’s a lie.)

Yea, it's a hell of a lot of work, but it's really nice payoff for everything to have a united art style, rather than something patchwork. I usually just try and cut corners to remove as much unneeded art as possible, and make the rest custom :P

Haha yeah, I'm nowhere near Luchino's level in terms of asset creation, especially when it comes to tilesets. Though I guess I'm making progress if someone mentions the two of us in the same sentence? But yeah, Luchino and unity a real inspiration for me to work harder.
