Now I don't know whether to keep working on my game or wait to port it to MV...

I'm early enough in development to seriously consider it. But seeing as I'll have to learn RGSS4 (if it's indeed RGSS4) and all the new features MV will have...

Decisions decisions...

Ugh, I forgot I'm using the Luna Engine for my current project. Maybe this isn't such a good idea, after all? I guess it'll really depend on how users can manage scenes...
As with any new technology, I'd say that it's better to wait it out first- you'll be better off going into MV knowing about any bugs/issues, the pros and cons, the limitations/opportunities and so on than marching in because it's new.

After all, it's not like VXA is gonna shrivel up and die as a market as soon as MV comes out. Just look at 2k3.

I'm generally for sticking with an engine until the game is done. Though, I can totally get seeing a shiny new editor on the horizon to be quite tempting!

Though, ultimately, I guess the decision comes down to whither or not it's good for the game to be made in one editor over another. Don't switch to the new thing "just because". I kinda doubt you need such advice, but, there it is.
Full speed ahead! There ain't no getting off this train we're on!
I don't think it'll be coming THAT soon...

Yeah that's true. Ace isn't going anywhere.

I don't think I have any trouble finishing what I start. If anything, I have trouble starting things.

I'm in this dilemma right now because I'm early enough in the actual project that switching engines may not be such a hassle. Of course, switching to a newer engine just because it's newer is one of the dumbest reasons to do so. I'm probably going to wait AT LEAST until I can see a full list of new features.

Well, from the Facebook page:

It will be released for PC Windows and Mac this Winter in Japan.

So maybe we'll see a release in January? Or February? Who knows when the translation will go underway?
I'm quite sure I'll be doing a commercial endeavour in MV ( iOS/mobile support alone is just... ), but I doubt I'll make the jump right now. I'm still using VX, after all. ^^

You're magical to me.

Also keep in mind that there'll be no scripts available for it when it first comes out. It's up to you, but I personally will still be doing my next few projects in Ace. I'll be waiting and watching to see the reactions to MV and to see what its advantages are (I'll also be waiting for the inevitable scripts that fix whatever is less than optimal about it ^^;;)
Yeah, it's probably best to stick with what you started on unless you want to rehaul the thing completely. We don't know all the details about MV yet - one thing so far is that tiles are 48x48, which means that graphics made for VX ain't gonna fit well. And we don't even known anything about the scripting system yet - it might be Ruby 4, it might be something else - I mean, it's gotta be mobile/etc compatible, right? So it might use a different language altogether. We just don't know.

There's a lot more things we have to hear about it before you can really make that kind of decision.

exactly. never let new releases change your plans. stick with what you're doing 'till the end.
