Today, I stood behind someone and watched them play Prayer of the Faithless. I learned a lot of things I didn't think about before.

I had bought an earlier build Soma Spirits to a convention about a month ago and it was interesting to watch people's reactions. Every single person found a passable tile that was supposed to be impassible. Every. Single. One.

Everyone also got frustrated with an encounter that kept respawning and getting in the way of solving a puzzle, and I ended up removing it shortly after.

Live demos are really great for seeing how your players are interacting with your game's design. And you can tell just by their facial expressions and body language what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong.

You'd think MZ would use a dictionary for switches/variables by now?

The same reason why I changed a lot of concepts in School Haunt. Just wanna cringe at the people thinking that my chara has ghost powers (even though he does not have any).

Sir Redd of Novus: He who made Prayer of the Faithless that one time, and that was pretty dang rad! :D

Absolutely! There were quite a few issues this person uncovered with tutorials and teaching that I thought I had adressed. For example: After learning about Stamina factoring into defense, this person forgot about it in the very next battle about 45 seconds afterward. I need to do more to teach players how the game works before ramping up the difficulty, so I need to go back and add some more tutorials.

It was especially helpful because this person had never played an RPG Maker game before in their life, so there was no basic knowledge of controls and such they fell back on. I need to work that into my game as well.

It was good to hear that the overall reception was positive, though! I'm sure it was genuine because this person had a fair share of criticism that I noted to address, so they weren't just trying to be nice.
