Now a topic about character design.

I haven't played many RPGs myself so I don't have much insight, but emotional attachment is certainly a necessity at one point at least with one of the characters. The advantage with the main character is that it's relatively easy to have them to feel more personal, as the player can see their past and whatnot if needed, and hence understand omnisciently. But personally, I actually like it more when the emotional bond is stronger with a supporting character rather than the main character him/herself.

And you should leave that sprite that was there at the first post initially on, Komodo. It was really neat - I loved how the hair was shaded.

Quintessence - The Blighted Venom

Thanks for the feedback guys. :)

I've always been careful with using the term "game" to describe this project. While it does grow more toward such a genre, it was certainly not exactly what I had in mind when I started the project. None the less, I wouldn't recommend you in continuing further, Darken. Although there is some game-play past that, I'm pretty sure that it's not for you on a broad basis, at least yet. (You can download the chap 6.5 tech demo if you want, as that has some game-play and features new functions in the battle system. http://youtube.com/watch?v=2G2VF6cq7mk But however I didn't really go through the basic controls of the BS there.)

But I've been thinking about that lately. At first, it was fine to get by with a selected target audience. But now that the project is relatively more well known, it seems like it would be wise to try to develop for a wider appeal to meet the expectations. I've been querying about inserting game play elements into the first and possibly second chapters on the private home forum, and it has been met with mostly agreements. I have some things planned out, and they should be implemented when time allows.

For now, some valentine/fanart by Makio-Kuta! :>

Web Layout Mockup - Feedback?

That most recent one seems quite nice. The greenish glow from before reminded me a lot of x-box and whatnot, and the second last one seemed to clash in colors - the last one fixed that.

post your picture

Wow, Kentona, you look so much like how I thought you'd look it's not even funny!
You also look like a younger version of my uncle if he was white, heheh.

No comment on your's, Craze. :P I have absolutely no idea what just happened there.

Go Veira go, Asian academic power! Accompanied by the Asian parental spanking session afterwards - Just wouldn't be the same without. That expression in the first one's adorable, by the way.

We Did It First screenshot thread

Reminds me of this MMORPG called Tibia, heheh. It's a refreshing perspective none the less when used to it.

A bit too big:

Family Guy Blue Harvest

D: I thought it was just a combined episode.

Loved Meg's appearance, the whole 1 second of it. :p

Time Freezes in Grand Central Station

Nice. I checked out some other videos of events done by that group too, there are some quite awesome things there.

And you are...? (THE INTRODUCTION THREAD)

I'm not too fond of them myself, to be honest. My favourite is the white ties template as used in Memento Vivere and the old Shades; they just seem to have a balanced tone suitable for all types of scenarios to me (I'd imagine that it'd be relatively hard to create something overly serious with the VX RTP style, in comparison. Not that that it necessarily makes it bad, of course.).

And you are...? (THE INTRODUCTION THREAD)

Of course. I think I miscommunicated there; I am not saying that the RTP is bad, but that just as you said, there will always be a selection of people who do not like a certain style.

And for the starting period of time, there is a lack of resources relative to the other makers (which will surely fill up in time, of course), the choice of starting graphics is limited for many - and naturally some will not like certain styles or such limitation to start with. Nothing is wrong with the program itself in that aspect. Conversion surely do work, yet is still somewhat of a hassle, as the two mapping systems seem to be quite different (I am not really too clear on that though, to be honest) - and when they do all get finished, it would more or less mark the premature resource session over in that aspect.

Edit: I see all the XP RTP char-sets have been converted already, hahah.
