[Closed] Pizza's Commission Thread

After doing a few successful, albeit "private" commissions, I thought it was high time to make a legit thread and see if I could get anything out of it. I have a lot of free time at the moment, so it felt like a good time to see if anybody wants to hire me.

Who I Am:

I'm a Canadian game designer and artist, originally from Newfoundland but now living in Toronto and attending Game Design College. I'm trying to support myself purely through indie means while living off of the money I saved working for Oil Giants in Alberta. I'm down to work on just about anything.

What I Do:

I do mainly digital art, most of my focus being on pixel art in general and digital character portraits- however, I can also do full digital paintings with painted backdrops. I can also make fantasy style map graphics (shown below). Just about the only thing I'm not really competent with is animation, but I can do it and would welcome the chance to get practice in (because I suck at forcing myself to practise animating).

Pricing:

As I've only recently started doing commission work, but in general I would charge anywhere from 15$ - 70$ CDN depending on the size and complexity of the piece involved. If you're commissioning more than one thing there would obviously be a group pricing/discount thing applied as well- I wouldn't just stack the fees up for longer term work like that.

Basically, a completely filled up tileset, a digital painting with a character and a background, a set of character portraits with emotions, or anything of that time/complexity would be in the upper levels of price, while something like a bare bones tileset or just lineart would be in the lower levels of pricing.

Example Work:

You can find plenty of examples of my work on my Twitter, in my Art Thread, or in the screenshots of my Games. I'll still post some here though:

Slices of Pizza

It's been a while since I let my last art thread wither and die quietly in the dark of the Creative Corner, so now that I'm doing a lot more art a lot more often, I'm gonna take a crack at another art thread.

Since the first post can't just be "What I did today", here's a dump of recent pieces:

I'm hoping having a thread again can spur me to make even more art than I'm doing right now!

You can follow me on Twitter if you want WIP screenshots of my art and don't mind listening to my occasional rambling.

[RM2K] "Not Implemented" MP3 Error

So, I was putting some placeholder MP3's in my 2k project, and this happened when I tried to play one:

This "Not Implemented" warning just keeps endlessly popping up and as you can see, stacks, pretty much clogging up my PC and forcing me to end the program with Task Manager to stop it.

Any fix for this? Is it a known problem? I've heard of a "harmony.dll" issue- is this it?

I have the official 2K translation, the standalone version downloaded off of the Humble Bundle site.

Gamepage User Categories & Makerscore Question

Just a quick suggestion and question. I've noticed as of late that the user categories for gamepages seem a little limited. It seems sort of odd that there aren't official categories for Artists or Musicians on the pages, and that they have to be added to "other" when making a page. I mean, it's not unusual for someone in the RM community or an RM team to work just those positions on a game.

I began thinking about this because, and I'm not totally sure about it, but I think that you don't get makerscore for being listed as "Other"? Again, I could be wrong, but I couldn't find any confirmation that users listed as "Other" were getting some of the makerscore for the games that they worked on.

Just wondering why only Testers get an actual category outside of Devs & Leads. Seems somewhat strange given that there are probably just as many dedicated Testers as there are Artists or Musicians in the community.

Pizza The Place

I claim this thread in the name of delicious pizzas the world over. Everything I create and all my thoughts will be gathered here, as toppings on the most hangover inducing dish the world has ever known.

I will re-upload the things I canned when I ragequit. As a favor to me, if you're able to guess or remember the actual name of the project in question then keep it on the down-low. I am paranoid about those things (but apparently not about the art?).

Traditional Art

Some of the recent art from "Project Durio":

[Spriter] Will Work for Food

I am a pixel artist, and I want work in order to practice my craft. That's the gist of it right there- I'm not the kind of guy who can just create random pieces of work all day in the name of practice, I need a goal, something to work on or for. You know how it is.

I'm not asking for money or anything, unless I'm doing a whole bunch of work. I'm mainly in this to beef up my skills before I go to game design college.

If you want examples of my work you can check out this topic (feel free to drop a comment there if you have any advice):

EDIT: Send me a PM with the relevant info if you're interested.

Good "Science Focused" Sci-Fi Movies?

Let me explain here. I love me some good Sci-Fi of any kind, but my favourite kind of Sci-Fi seems to be few and far between: movies that focus on the science. I have some examples here to better illustrate what I'm looking for:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001:_A_Space_Odyssey_%28film%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_%28film%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_%28film%29

I know about Moon, and I still need to watch it. Haven't gotten around to that one yet.

So I want to know if you guys know of any science focused Sci-Fi films. Not action type Sci-Fi about shooting Xenomorphs or whatever (since that's easy as fuck to find anyways).

Help me out here!

Pizza's Products

I just bought Pyxel Edit, as I'm planning to start practicing my pixel art more now that I have the time off from work to do so. So I'll just dump it here whenever I make something, and I'll try to not be horrifically lazy about practice as I usually am.

EDIT: ALSO I'm just posting all my art here fuck off

A couple of characters that I did up today. Wanted to practice a style similar to Cave Story+, but without just completely copying it. I think I did alright.

I gotta say, using new software is nice. It sure as hell makes me want to pixel, as opposed to Character Maker 1999 making me want to off myself.

EDIT: Sort of crappy self portrait GO
