The Wii...any good?

For me, all the good Nintendo exclusive games were on GameCube. For example, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. The Wii has failed to offer me anything thus far that's kept me even mildly entertained for more than five seconds and the system as a whole fails to impress me.

RE 5 Release

Just finished Vet with all S ranks and got the final Wesker figure. All I need to do is complete the game on Pro and I'll have a thousand points on it. Might buy Versus on Monday but I'm reserved about paying for content that's been on the disc the entire time.

The Wii...any good?

When I lived with my dad, my little brother had a Wii, when I moved out, my housemate had a Wii. I say had because they both got bored of it and sold it to get a 360, as did almost everyone else I know who has ever owned a Wii.

Here's my problem with the Wii. All the best ttiles have come and gone, and none of them made a huge impact on me. Galaxy failed to hold my interest, I preferred Sunshine. Twighlight Princess was alright. Problem there was I had the GameCube version (and wish I still did, it's worth a few pennies now). Metroid Prime 3? Never finished 1 and 2, I prefer my Metroids in 2D. I prefer Melee to Brawl, it just feels faster and more fluent (and yes you can argue it with me, it just didn't feel right to me at all). Mario Kart? Using the wheel was fun for ten minutes. I admit I have an interest in Resi: Umbrella Chronicles, but haven't had a chance to play it. Resi 4 was a rerelease of a game I already beat twice (GC and PS2) and the fantastic Resi 1 remake and Resi 0 were for GC. The Wii has absolutely sod all to tempt me with.

My 360 on the other hand has offered me a ton of fun that's just not avaialble on Wii. We're talking Assassin's Creed, Blue Dragon, Burnout Paradise, Call of Duty 4 and 5, Condemned 1 and 2, Dead Rising, Devil May Cry 4, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit, Eternal Sonata, Fable 2, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Fear 1, Files and 2, Gears of War 1 and 2, Grand Theft Auto 4, Halo 3, Left 4 Dead, Lost Odyssey, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja and Broken Bond, Overlord, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2, Resident Evil 5, Saint's Row 2, and Skate. Also, the third Banjo-Kazooie is on 360.

Yes, the Wii's Virtual Console has a great selection, but I already own most of those titles, and the Wii should thrive on new exciting experiences rather than making you pay out again for past glories.

The Wii also suffers downgraded versions of certain titles, for example, the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, Dead Rising, or Sonic Unleashed. Granted they aren't huge releases, but why pay the same price for a commonly worse and cut down version of the game?

What is your opinion on "Filler"

I usually consider filler to be anything that wasn't originally in the manga. Yes, some filler is written or planned by the original authours and that gives the filler more weight, but if it wasn't in the manga then it can be cut out or skipped over without consequence - therefore making it filler.

I see it as padding, a way to keep the audience occupied whenever the anime catches up to the manga and can't progress until the manga does. And significantly at that.

That said I do not hate filler. I can enjoy filler so long as it's well written. So long as it doesn't allow for any major plot holes and everyone stays in character. A good example would be Dragon Ball Z. OK, Piccolo destroys Goku's space pod in the Saiyan saga which means Goku could have never gotten to Namek - that was a screw up. But Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Kuririn and Choazu going back in time to fight Saiyans whilst trainign with Kami? That was fantastic!
