@Shadski if its an abandoned snowy town, why are the lamps still lit
Well, it's not completely abandoned (the player lives there) but really it's because with the effects you can't see the light that emanates from them.

hmm, testscreen, w/ stuff from a new tileset.
I love the tileset, I think it goes well with the sprite.
Opinion on Fangames

One thing about fan games that I will never understand is the amount of Final Fantasy fan games. So many are floating around out there, but a lot of them have no ties to the series. The way I see it, unless you're making the three hundredth Final Fantasy VII fan game sequel, then you should just slap an original title on it. Square Enix doesn't exactly own rights to the names and game mechanics, so having Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder doesn't make your game a fan game. Yet that's about the extent of the fan game's relation to the series.
Personally, I don't like fan games unless they're for a series that doesn't have a video game or hasn't had one in nearly a decade. If somebody wanted to make a Mr. Mosquito fan game, then I'd support the hell out of it. But Final Fantasy 7.32-XV^3 is just getting old.
If I were to be honest with you, I've never played a Final Fantasy in my life. Not because I don't want to, but I never see them on the shelves of video game stores near me. ;_;

@Liman: I think I will put an NPC in there that mentions the wheelchair problem. :)
@SuperShadyShadow: You could work with light colors of the rainbow. That gives the icy area a certain fantastic atmosphere. Or you could work with light and dark blue colors to give it an icy feeling. (Btw, are you perhaps a Hetalia fan?)
I'm kind of having trouble interpreting the rainbow part.

Whatever you do, don't make a fan game that goes in a different direction than everything from the canon series, as this ensures exactly zero people will be interested. I should know; I have hands-on experience.
What about parodies of games with the characters from the canon series? Do those have a better chance? Not exactly what I'm making but just curious...

Thanks! I can't parallax so I have to make do the tilesets I have, and it took me hours to design the mansion even though it looks so simple. I just noticed some mistakes on it too so I fixed them as well.

Hello again.
My ice cave is missing something but I can't pinpoint it. Does it need less crystals? Should I change the walls or ceiling? Do I add more torches? Should there be effects? (e.g. tint)

The game I'm making has a pretty big fanbase but it gets a lot of hate from time to time. There's also some pretty well known RPG Maker games for it too.
One thing that I can't get over is that I've never seen a decent map in any of the fangames, ever.
