Thieving with events and all that stuff...?

I use RMXP.

Liberty, I tried now the Enemy Detection System (by Gubid) that I found where you linked me to. I'ts a nice system and works rly fine. I like the exclamation reaction on enemies.

But it's not quite what I had in mind. Aeroflux Stealth Script is more what I had in mind, but he never finished it, I guess...

Basically, if Gubid would've mixed his script with Aeroflux's script and some other functions for a stealth energy bar, it would be perfection for me. By the fact that my character is a thief of some sort, he will be able to hide in shadows and walk silently, done by pressing a key.

You guys know of any experienced scripter that would be willing to do the mix if I said "please"? :p
I rly cant do it with my 0.0001% of scripting knowledge yet...

Which version?

I prefer 2k3 character style. Somehow it's the one that seems less childish and more aestetically elegant. But I can live with most XP characters, and there's good 3rd party tools to create new ones.

In the mapping matters I agree with both tardis and FG, cuz on one hand you have many good looking tiles in 2k3, they seem less square and autotiles don't create many obvious corners. Also, perhaps cuz they are smaller, they seem more noisy, which helps the final product seem more filled with stuff and atractive. This makes it easier to make a reasonably good looking map in 2k3 in quite little time.

On the other hand XP gives you more freedom for creativity, detail and diversity. However, its 32x32 tiles can leave you with a much empty looking map, especially stock tiles. And autotiles (especially water) create obvious bad looking corners that'll make nature seem totally unnatural.

So I agree with tardis, you can make a good looking map in 2k3, even with stock tiles. But I also agree with FG, if you're an efficient developer you can make it look good in any maker. You just have to adapt to it's capabilities and find the way to get it looking better.

Unfortunately for me, I just can't get a hold on XP's water autotiles and take out those annoying squarish corners. Which rly saddens me... and makes me wonder if I shouldn't be making it in 2k3... :p

Thieving with events and all that stuff...?

This stuff seems good. I said "with events" in the title but I forgot how scripting can make it so much easier and less time consuming.

Any scripts for lockpicking, pickpocketing and hidding in shadows?

I'm trying to find this RPG game...

aaaah 2k...

I think it's that one yea. I thought it was a rly good game in most aspects, except I hate RM2k text font... but stil...

Thx a lot guys.

EDIT: yup, its that one alright. lol my description isn't much accurate, much more distorted than I thought. :D
But, well, it served the purpose. Thx very much, once again.

Thieving with events and all that stuff...?

hmm, thanks gonna check that stuff out.
I fear it must be pretty much time and patience consuming tho... I'll see what good it'll be.

Thieving with events and all that stuff...?

I've been thinking about this for a few days...

Has anyone ever tried to reproduce some kind of thieving like in Neverwinter Nights and Baldurs Gate/ Icewind Dale, Arx Fatalis, Oblivion, and so on?
Basically every game has the same concepts of thieving: pickpocketing, lockpicking, stealth, etc.

I'd like to have an insight of this. The most I have done once was a stealth approach that consisted of trigger events, apropriatelly placed, to make the enemy attack you if you steped into them. To avoid it you needed to press the walk key. That way you could step on the trigger events harmlessly, but never going much close to the enemies or they'd attack you anyway (some other trigger events). Never found a way to reproduce sight-detection on enemies.

I'm trying to find this RPG game...

I didn't quite know where to put this, so move the topic if you feel it's misplaced.

So, I'm trying to find this game and I'll try to describe it as best as I can. My memories from it may be a little distorted, but I hope that some one can still help me find it. I can't remember it's name, otherwise I'd found it already.

I think it was made in RM 2k3. I'm not totally sure about it, but I'm sure it wasn't XP and could even less be VX.

The game story consisted of a little girl, living with her grand mother (I think...). At the begining she is inside her house, has to pick up her book (journal), and then meets with her grand mother that gives her some quests.

Her first quests are things like hearding a cow and buying bread or wheet or something like that, all within the tiny village she lives in.

After a few quests for her grand mother, she parts on a longer walk somewhere I can't remember but I think it was another village, and on the way there she goes through a forest (nice looking map if I can remember well), a cave or a few caves, and I remember finding a few "mages" (at least they looked like old men in robes and casted spells) on the way.
I vaguely think that there was some sort of animals to fight too. Nothing like goblins or monters so far in the game.

Now I didnt play much of it and I lost the game. But I remember some of it's features like

Hack & slash type real time combat. The little girl was into magic and could cast a few attacking spells.
The journal, that was rly a book showing up on the screen, I think it might be something else than just the journal. I think it was how the menus were made up. You'd press Escape and the book would have the menus. Such custom menus with atractive graphics, fonts and functionalities were rly neet.

hmmmpff.... can't remember anything else right now. Only that I think I downloaded it from this website's list. But I went through it all and rly couldn't find it...

I'll add posts here when and if I remember something else.

I apreciate all the help I can get cuz I want to make it a gift to some one a little special ;)
Thanks in advance
