SLASHANDZ'S PROFILE

I'm Josh, a 19 year old college student. I've been messing around with RPG Maker for years. I tend to prefer the classic "fantasy, anime, swords-and-wizards" RPG's. I also usually lean towards lighthearted comedies over serious tragedies. But there are some exceptions: Lun Calsari's "The Way" is actually one of my favorites.

Yeah, I also noticed in the main menu, that "Josh" was also there as well. The only time so far I noticed some character has mentioned the right name was Stasia, right after you choose your name.

Yeah, I figured out that I had Josh initialize after you type the name in.
In other words, his name was reset to 'Josh'. I've fixed it, I just need to upload the new version.

Is this some sort of quest guild? Very nice!

Are fan games really frowned upon that much? I've put as much effort into this game as I would any other game I would have created in a serious project.

I'm concerned because I have very little knowledge of the Combat Butler series. Fan games are rather intimidating if you aren't familiar with the source material.

Though the game does look quite well made!

Nice mapping! I always love ocean cave levels. :)

Dude, no way, the main character uses a lance for a weapon. Awesome (=
By the way, when you try to leave the village before doing the tutorials, the dude says your name as "Josh"

Haha, I'm glad you approve of the lance. It's a nice break for the all-too-common sword.
And good catch on the "Josh" bug. I'll make sure to have that fixed next release!

Gonna need more books than that mate.

This is actually a little room towards the back of the library.
There's plenty of books in the library, I assure you. =P

The map is simple and good, I like that. Put up some barrels around perhaps? Place events on the books/barrels? Reward the player some Gold for interacting, or whatever currency you use. Maybe a small potion? Players like treasure hunting.

So long it's balanced, little things like this can really boost your maps from a gameplay view.

Thanks for the suggestions! Some barrels might be nice. Oh, and there are indeed events on the bookcases here. As for the reward, there's a decent piece of equipment you get for visiting.

More detail can be placed here. You know what fits, I don't. Just some thoughts to help out here.

If it's a temple more statues. Ancient temple? Cracks? Boxes?

Perhaps change the structure so the path to the statue is more narrow. Shrinking maps really small in the engine, while still having 3-tile-walking-space for the PC to move about, can make them look really good on the game screen.

Changing the structure will allow you to add more layers, stairs. Some holes, give off a more dungeon feel, bridge?

Make some of the tiles older/different? Give sandy areas some flowers?

From the sand looks to me like this is in a desert, a temple dungeon. Darkness? Traps? Event-usage possibilities? Switch puzzles, gates, orbs?

I agree, this is a rather un-detailed map. I wanted to have the maiden be the focus, and I was concerned too many objects would detract from that. But I'll probably end up adding more. Thanks!

How come none of the heroes have the element of Earth, or possibly water?

Because more elements would lead to a more complicated system.
I've tried more and less elements: three seems to work best.

But thanks for the suggestion, and if you've finished the demo and still think it needs more elements, let me know.

Don't forget thunder/volt/lighting, if you're u
sing ice chances are you've got that.

Dark/Darkness? Light/Holy?

This is a simple 3 element system, rock, paper, scissors?

Actually, it's not Rock-Paper-Scissors at all. Fire creatures are immune to fire. Wind creatures are immune to wind. Ice creatures are immune to ice. So for every creature, you can only use 2/3 of your party's spells. That's why I've found adding more elements makes the game too easy and less makes it
too hard.
