Connecticut Shooting

At class, so I'll have a difficult time finding sources. I'll try to hit you up on IRC later.

While knives aren't magical non-lethal weapons, mine is a point many people will bring up about this event: While the China slashing proves that banning guns tighter gun control won't prevent attacks, it reduces fatalities.

Incidentally, and admittingly, conventional gun control would not have prevented this. Cannot see any confirmation if the assault rifle was used in this attack or not. Weapons appear to have been stolen from someone who legally obtained them. Attempting to find unbiased sources on this, but finding fair handed sources on gun control issues is... difficult.

E: Consistent terminology.

You can't exactly drive into a school or knive students.
Sure you can knife students: http://www.latimes.com/news/world/worldnow/la-man-slashes-22-children-near-china-school-20121214,0,6383015.story

How many died during the shooting compared to the slashing?

Answer: 28 dead to 0.

Connecticut Shooting

Is there a particular reason a citizen needs to own an assault rifle?

Connecticut Shooting

There is a point in there. After every mass shooting, it's become standard practice to say "Now isn't the time to talk about guns, it's inconsiderate." It's always too soon. Then the next shooting happens, and we talk about the last event in comparison, but it's still "too soon" to talk about gun control.

Gun control may or may not be the solution here. The popular idea on Reddit at the moment is promoting mental health by perhaps screening those getting guns, or just making therapeutic services available in general. Either way, we need a serious discussion about this on the higher political channels. Just pushing it to "not the time" after each shooting isn't getting anything done.

Connecticut Shooting

Gun control is a very difficult topic in politics. Politics, by nature, is a terrible thing to discuss online. Going down that path requires quite a few fire shields.

Mental health screenings before purchasing firearms would be nice, although I doubt it'd pass any Congressional review.

An RPG specific sprite making program, or a tutorial?

Pixelformer is spiffy. Paint.net is less precise, but I like to name drop it whenever possible. Graphics Gale is unparalleled and has come from Mt. Olympus to grace us with magnificence, but you have to be willing to deal with its quirks. Like not really being English.

Rmn contest idea?

We already know Craze is the super villain around here.

Dragon_Saga_V_You_can_never_have_too_much_stats.PNG

Here's my one question: Do you need all of those stats for your game to be at its best? How many of those are direct stats, and how many are derived? Would it take away from the experience to merely say "A magic ring that reflects magic" rather than have it explicitly display a reflect stat on this menu?

Wine & Roses

Fair enough. The only two enemies (not counting running into the final boss too early) that I wasn't able to defeat on contact were Dante and the guy with the Shaco clones. Came back when I was able to nuke them clean. I guess a different path would have made taking out the minions every round impractical.

That seems like an excessive amount of stats. Can you describe what each one does?
