Your 3 factors to create a good game

1) Know your medium's limitations. Don't plan on making something your version of RPG Maker can't deliver.
2) Have a good storyline in mind. People play RPGs for the story more than anything else, so don't sacrifice it for anything. Craft your towns and dungeons around the story, not vice versa.
3) Sidequests and hidden content. I personally love it when a game offers me sidequests, especially if it's a good game that I wouldn't mind playing a few hours longer. And hidden content like Bonus Dungeons, or messages from the staff are always a plus. So I try and work both into every game I make. ^_^

Cheat System

Stuff like the concept art is usually unlockable, like in Indigo Prophecy. Easter Eggs are hidden areas or messages. To me cheats are things liek the godmode/stat increase/ect.

I don't liek most cheats in Traditional RPGs because they completely unbalance the game. Small cheats (that wouldn't work in Traditional RPGs) like Big Head Mode, or something to change graphic detailsare better because they add a bit of replay value and don'tunbalance teh game.

I'm big on hidden content and Easter Eggs tho. My games have tons of little tidbits scattered throughout, but I make sure that even if you find them all, it only helps you out and never pushes you into a position of ultimate power. There's only one point in which I do actually grant that, and that's in the form of Maxed out equips. And even then I make the player work for them by putting them behind doors locked with hidden keys that are themselves hidden in a bonus dungeon full of tough mobs.

But I'm ranting >_<

What comes to mind from the username above you?

Just a different way of saying Hi to stand out a little ^_^

Well, I started with RPG Maker for the PSX and that got me hooked. I'm up to RPG Maker XP now, and I'm remaking one of my original PSX RPG Maker games atm. It's really exciting for me to be revamping the old storyline with all the new stuff I can do on XP. I'm gunna try and get a submission through once I get another level done for screenshots.

At any rate, my speciality is in story/plotline development, sidequest creation and hidden content. I'm weak in equipment and monster balancing, so don't be suprised if I give up on trying at some point and ask for help on that.

And just a warning - I have kind of a short fuse when I think someone is insulting me or my work (I'm also quick to assume things :(). I've already had a scuffle on this site and I'm feeling kind of bad about it now. >_< Critisism is ok, but try and give ways to improve on the problem and don't just say something's wrong. Other than that I'm a pretty nice person.

Anyway, I guess I'll be seeing you guys around ^_^

6/10 for that nugget of wisdom :P

The Reviewing Process

Thank you WIP, and I'm sorry but I tend to ignore forums on most sites because in my experience no one but morons post anything there, much less anything useful or important.

But you don't have to be so sarcastic and rude Karsuman. And I don't appreciate the implication.

The Reviewing Process

How come my game, which I submitted a day before a vid for it, is still Pending, but teh vid was denied not even two days later?
