I grew up playing DOS games like Doom 2 on keyboard, using the arrow keys. I don't do well with WASD, about as well as trying to throw a baseball with my left arm.

That would be best, yes, but dynRPG was actually the next big thing(at the time of that post). What you are describing would be the next big thing after dynRPG. Which is what this engine is becoming.

This would have been leaps and bound easier in XP or above.
Not really. The battle system is already complete. What takes time is recreating the graphics, which would take a long time on any engine. And from what I remember, and take from the description, is that he doesn't plan on finishing this entire thing. The only thing he's committed to is finishing the bombing mission.

So after two scares of my laptop not turning on I finally decided to back up my files to Dropbox haha It's been a while since I backed up to my external drive, so I'd probably give up if something had happened.

Yes, I tried several times. Kept going back and "continue" then it happened in a different location.
Finally deleted the game...maybe I'll try downloading again and see what happens.

You could try right clicking>properties and running in various compatibility modes.
