Computer exploded early last week. Defect in water cooling system. Blue Ray player ruined, carpet stained, case damaged. The company is finally ready to talk comphensation. Only took 15 emails, pics, video... (After I built an entirely new, superior rig.)
No matter how many times I do the reCAPTCHA, RMN thinks I'm a robot. =.=; Oh well.
What about using that new type of captcha, where there's a grid of images and you have to click on the ones that include certain things like street signs or kittens.
The older I get, the more I think that most criticisms that turn based is 'outdated' compared to action systems are ridiculous. It's like saying chess, or checkers even is 'outdated'.

if the mooks in dynasty warriors were smart, the game would be fucking awful to play.
I don't know why you play games, but I couldn't disagree more with this. The games I've played have enemies doing literally nothing. They all crowd around you and maybe one or two will swing their weapons. I play games to strategize and encounter resistance. Not mash button to win. Even when the generals show up, they aren't very smart or much of a challenge. They usually just have higher HP and invincibility frames to make the fight drag on long enough to justify playing it. And maybe they can actually block so that you have to stop mashing for a second before you start mashing some more.
If a player gets frustrated because they do poorly at games, the answer isn't to lobotomize the enemies. If there are difficulty levels that affect it, that's fine. But usually there is no such setting and the game is braindead easy until they scale up the dmg the enemies do so it's just as easy except you have to not get hit at all. It also ties into the fact that the enemies have just a few tools and don't have any kind of strategy to make good use of them.
It's possible good examples exist but I haven't seen them. So I can only speak from my own experience. Also I'm good at games, so I have an easier time finding exploits in enemy AI. Maybe that's the difference? (not that I'm suggesting you suck at games haha no) One person might have a hard time beating Crash Man in MM2, but I can make him dance to my whims.
Oh, and I guess turn based battles are ok xD I haven't played much of those in recent years but I still like the concept. I want to make one some day and give it my best shot at correcting the bad AI issue. I think it has to do with effort. Instead of taking the time to code different scenarios, devs just create a basic framework, assign moves within the framework, and that's it. I would want to create all kinds of rules like: (enemy)if your ally is a common target do this buff/guard him, if the hero just cured someone cast silence on the one that did, or if the hero keeps using fire moves increase your resistance to it. And much more, of course, those are still fairly basic. But at least it's not just, use this at random and every 6 turns do this and when low hp do that. To give the enemies some semblance of reacting to your moves, just not acting.
That also depends on the moves themselves. If it's just dmg, more dmg, and dmg plus status/element there isn't much room to be creative. But if you have moves that do more interesting things, there is room to be creative and make the player think about what to do next. Not just about how they can deal the most damage while taking the least.
Playing the first game I made... for the CRINGE. Wanna see? https://www.twitch.tv/silversatyr/v/100781428

author=LockeZauthor=Link_2112OK, that's pretty satisfying.
Last night as I was passing by a gym I took it over and put my Magikarp up. It's still there.
Hot damn, it's still there and it's almost the 24 hour mark. This would be the first time ever that I've been able to keep a Gym for that long and reap the precious real money currency rewards. I'm tempted to drive out there again tonight to check on the Gym and revel in the glory. For the record I'm team Instinct xD and if you don't know why that matters, then you don't play pokemon go.
between Pokemon GO and VarageSale I've discovered more of my city in the past 6 months than I ever did in the past 16 years

The thing about Gyms is that they totally suck. It can hardly be called fighting, it's so braindead. For me the best thing about this game is collecting the pokemon, evolving them and leveling them up. For what? Well trainer battles I believe are supposed to be coming. Plus when they release new pokemon there will be something to do. Either way the fighting is such garbage that I can't see why anybody would play the game for that. Might as well play the new genre of game called 'clicker games'. *shudder*
This game is basically an addon for when to go out on my bike or go for a drive. The game says I've walked 215kms, but most of that is in my car haha I just want to catch them all. I've got about 100 right now so I play in hopes that I see something new. When I'm in a new city I'll open the game and wander around. I've discovered new areas of places I've lived by for over 30 years.
Unless the battle system is completely overhauled I don't see the point of Gyms at all. It's meant to be a casual game. People who pay money, spend a lot of time going out to play(instead of playing when they were already going to go out), and take Gyms seriously are playing this game wrong, imo. And if that's what you want out of this game, it will always suck and be infuriating.
This isn't a Pokemon game. It's Ingress with pokepaint. They literally copy/pasted the data from Ingress to make this game.

I never cared about Gyms and I'm not even sure what he's talking about. Even before the update I've never had a pokemon last more than 12 hours in a Gym anyways and it seems like I could go take over a Gym with ease even before the update. Although I'm in the ruralist of rural areas. Cape Breton island.
For me, the update made this game playable instead of an uphill grind fest. I have 1 pokestop nearby, and the next one is a 5 min drive, and beyond that it's at least 15 mins drive in any direction. The fact that I can go to my local stop and catch a ton of pokemon and get a shit ton of items increased what I can do by at least x3.
I think that guys problem, well one of his problems, is that he spent money on this game. What a sap. I got Google Rewards, did dumb surveys, built up 6$ and used that to buy items in the game. All profit.

Just a random thought. Does anyone else feel sleepy almost all the time no mater how much sleep you get?

and if it persists, go see the doc.
Why would a person go to a doctor when they can get advice on a game maker forum xD

Start working out. The first week or two you'll feel more exhausted like it's backfiring on you, but your general energy store will pick up shortly after.
It also helps to dump any guilty pleasures you have, food-wise. Mine used to be potato chips and manga.
This is my answer. When I was working a physically demanding job, my overall energy rose. But now that I sit on my butt all day, and more after work, I find myself tired even after a full nights sleep.
It doesn't help that I keep waking up, then sleeping more for short periods of time, instead of one continuous sleep. I read somewhere that it's best to sleep in intervals of 30 minutes. So for example 2h30 minutes is better than 2h15 minutes.
I feel like I'm in Hungry Hungry Hippo the video game...
Is the "what are you thinking about" thread really locked just because LockeZ has a different opinion to other people? Would people really prefer a community where everyone agrees with one another 100% of the time? What is the matter with you, darlings?
it's not really about shutting people up. It's about keeping the focus of the site on games. Too often people are talking about non game stuff and that is most often where the drama comes from . Someone expresses an opinion, someone else is offended and argues, and it flames up. In the past all the drama was about the latest review or someone's rude comment on an image or the latest featured game or some game dev topic. But it was about games. Now it's all about being pc, sexuality, politics, random nonsense. mawks early days are a total epitome of what I'm talking about. I'm not saying we can't talk about that stuff at all. I'm just saying it has taken over the site and it seems like people can't not talk about it. It always comes up and it's huge turn off from the site. Every single person came here becuase of RPG Maker and making /playing amateur games. It's what they should expect to find when they browse the activity on this site. The damn URL has RPG Maker in it.
I don't know if anybody else browses the site through the latest posts page but I always have. And that is a direct reflection of all the activity on the site and it has changed dramatically over the years. Most discussion is in the now locked thread or statuses about nothing. forum games. With a few posts on game pages mixed in. very few in comparison.
Nobody is playing And talking about games. Everybody is up each other's ass about what they said about this topic or what they said about that person. Grudges are formed and personal mud slinging is accurate because many people talk about their lives in great detail. I shouldn't know people's sexual preferences and fetishes but I do. This hardly feels like a game site with a close community. It feels like a social media site and oh we also have aome games in here somewhere.
People shouldn't be leaving because of how the community is. They should be staying because it's a great place to talk about and share games. Thankfully some events are active but that's about all this site is good for nowadays.
I don't really have any suggestions or people to point at and say it's their fault. Although adding statuses was a bad idea haha I'm just sad to see the site turn out this way. Back in the day even with shump this place was game makers heaven to me. I learned a ton mostly through game dev discussions. Now all I learn is what someone had for breakfast and how their schoolwork is going. And what music they like and their thoughts on trump. No thanks.
