And you are...? (THE INTRODUCTION THREAD)
author=Quiversee link=topic=118.msg3750#msg3750 date=1191529229Ummm....welcome then.
This is my first forum post...ever.
I go by Quiversee, or whatever shortened version you like. Thst's all I have to say about me!
*tries to think of clever nickname*
I will call you Quee. That actually sounds kinda cute. v.v It's one letter of from Squee.
How about we DONT duplicate sprites now... sav'vy?
author=Despain link=topic=286.msg3744#msg3744 date=1191519580That's it precisely!!!
EDIT:
I'm starting to understand you more and more. You have two rooms- one is the party select menu room and the other is just a normal room that shows the people in your party. It's possible to assign each hero a different variable for their position- ie. variable position 1 would be hero 1, 2, 3 etc. If you do it that way it's possible to have the character be invisible if that character is in spot 1. Before I help with that I want to make sure is that what you're asking?
To be concise, I have the big black room as my version of a party select screen. No one there is really 'interactive', and if I can make a custom menu there it will be replaced. Think of it like that one place in chrono trigger, except that no one is concious.
The second room, not all black, is the one that all the members are actually concious and you can talk to them to remind yourself of mission objectives, various item trading functions I'm messing with, ext. And I want to make it so that if character so and so is in slot one, they wont be standing in that room, until you switch them out, so there is never a duplicate.
So you have it, exactly. I'm glad we're on the same page, I confused myself, even.
I just dunno how to do that.
Story beginning
No sucking here. I enjoy a cute/perverse sense of humor. Perhaps a bit of detail in the department of what these people look like, ext.
I'd be more than willing to read the whole thing, regardless of how long.
Well, too a point. I'm not reading a harry potter book in size 12 font on a computer screen. ^.^

Musical RPG?
I really dig the idea of a musical RPG. I've always wanted to play Rhapsody for that reason...
And I think the music puns are cute. It reminds me of Brave Fencer Musashi, what with the allyucaneet kingdom and thirstquencher empire...everything was a food pun.
But that would be really cute, I think. ^.^

Hm, I understand, but what coding do you want me to screenshot, here?
I mean the basic putting-people-in-the-party coding is really simple;
<>Message: Add to Party?
<>Showchoice: Yes/No
: Handler
<> Change Party Members: Alyssa Add
<>
: Handler
<>
:End
<>
I don't have any problems getting them in my party though. This isn't my problem.
I can't offer coding, because there hasn't been any done. This is more from a technical standpoint, that I dont know how to begin to code it properly to begin with.
To demonstrate... cause I dunno if I'm being concise, and I feel stupid, so...

See, first I go to my party select room, same as always, and put anyone in it. Ignore that I used this person as an example.

Then I use the order command to walk around as the 2nd character.

Then, as I walk around the previous room, in which all my party members are standing there to do useful things... there are of course two of them. One is the player, the other an NPC.
I cannot use the "change sprite association" thing cause that doesnt affect the person in the front, it just does so with one specific ID.
I realize I could set it up so that if said character is in your party, the sprite dissapears, but then you cant use their functions unless you remove them and that would be tedious.
So a way to be able to lock in the leaders sprite as that first one, just as long as you're in the library, would be my ideal solution. I could have it as either a parrallel process or perhaps better, just have it change the association as you enter the room and set it back as you leave. But I dont see a button to lock in the hero graphic, just specific characters.
And this reaches farther than this, cause what happens later when a party member is present for a scene, but you also happen to have them in the lead slot? I was just wondering if there was a variable or something that would account for this,cause otherwise I'm gonna have a really tricky game to make...v.v
So I dont have code to offer, I'm asking how to do that part. v.v
I'm really really sorry if I completely missed what you're asking for. I feel really dumb but I dunno what else to tell you. o.0;

... Why? Did I miss a very blatent TV related pun? Or was I just so unfunny that you reccomend I do something other than post on forums all day? X.x OR can you REALLY eat soup with a knife and they proved it on TV?
I really do dislike television though.

Oh, I see. o.0;;
I don't wanna be a doctor though. And I graduate highschool with an associates so I dont think I'd be able to be one anyway. X.x;

Okay, I feel really stupid for even having this question, but...
I implemented the "get a room with all your party members in them" feature, but then I was being all... "what kind of crazy things could the gamer do to exploit this that I may not have forseen?"
So I switched the order of my party...and...bam...you're looking at two of the same character onscreen now. It is awkward.
I was thinking of having an auto teleport after you make a party and just disabling the main menu for that room, but then I realized I would have that problem throughout the library, which is kind of used as an HQ of sorts, where everyone wanders around and you can talk to them for advice, items, or various weird functions I'm trying to assign them.
And I'd ALSO have this awkwardness every time there is a scene in which you can see your party members...cause if you happen to have that one in the lead it's like WTF?!!
And I really wanna have the ability to switch the lead to whoever you'd like, I dont wanna take that out.
I notice there is a 'change sprite association' option, but no generic "change hero sprite association". Does anyone know how to do that so that for as long as you're in the place I can have an auto event or something that keeps your graphic to the default one regardless of who is in front?
I really dont want to have to make 12 pages per event from now on for all the various characters you could have in your party to make sure it doesnt happen.
Thanks in advance to whoever can help. I'm confused. v.v
