The Return

author=LockeZ
worst take ever.

Oh, LockeZ! You never disappoint in that you always disappoint. If I make RTP edits, those edits are mine and it's not anyone else's right to use my effort as their own for commercial OR private works. Copyright law or the original creator of the art I changed is completely irrelevant. It's a product of my efforts now - look up transformative use.

By the way, nobody here owes anyone the use of their own efforts.

State of the Game ~ Musings About the Future

*looks at his vast pile of unfinished projects*

DONT FEEL TOO BAD :P

many great artists often felt their pieces were unfinished for absurdly long amounts of time. I believe Picasso in particular is known for the thickness and number of layers of paint he used as he continually painted the same canvas over and over

you just suck though

And... Wish is Titania... lol.

Wish is just the vessel for Titania's soul ... there's a few parts in Edifice where she "demons out" and is obviously not herself, if I recall correctly. So Wish is actually a different person with both souls inside of her (I think)

Isn't Versalia just perfect. Like absolute perfection at everything he does or ever has done or ever will do. we should all aspire to his perfection, albeit that height is unachievable.

you are a darling

Also, hahaha "cool stuff" because you see there's an ice tundra and snow-touched

Weapon Damage Type(s)

author=WCouillard
The WDT is tied to the equipped weapon itself, so no. In theory, we could change the weapon when transformed unbeknownst to the player, but we'd have to copy every weapon in the game multiple times; not very practical for such a slight shift in damage.

I'm almost 100% certain without even looking that you can find an XP script that will let you have an "enchantment" buff that changes weapon damage type (Fire Sword buff: weapon attacks now deal fire damage). All you have to do is give transformations this buff by default~

Alternatively, (I only know VX, so, VX example), find where the combat script checks for "ele_set" for the elements being used in the attack. It'll be something like "push"ing the battler's equipped weapon data into ele_set or another similar array. Simply throw in an ID check (if user == Spar) and a transform check (and Spar Form == Mushroom Witch) and you can then dictate anything you want to happen (erase the ele_set array and change it to his Mushroom Witch attack type).

I kinda think separating Bludgeoning and Blunt Force is weird

I think so too but I can see what they're going for. An even spread of damtype (3/2/2/2/2) where the difference between this two would be one is "Bashing" and one is "Melee/Punching"

Weapon Damage Type(s)

Does anybody get a different WDT from transformations?

For example, Spar's "mushroom witch" form doesn't actually use a whip when attacking. IIRC she whips her mushroom cap off and swings magic dust at them or something.

Enhanced Battle Commands

One other thing, Flora will last three battle turns, represented by three sprouts. Each turn, one will disappear. If Spar is hit with a magic spell, all three or however many sprouts remain will disappear. Just gives the player a visual representation of how long the skill lasts.

that is ADORABLE.

Enhanced Battle Commands

The point brought up about Protect being specific to a selected target makes a lot of sense, though. It should be noted, though, that Rand can inflict his "Protecting" state on more than one ally at a time since it lasts for more than just one battle turn. If he's leading the party in a defensive formation, for example, he can basically take all physical hits by using three turns to select his allies. I do agree, though, it'd be simpler and more efficient if he just protected the party from the next physical attack. I will definitely bring that one up.

A+ to all of this

Since we're on the subject of making these new commands more efficient without being broken... I would assume it'd be better if Flora were able to be applied to another party member instead of just being applied to Spar? I will also suggest this.

I discussed this with someone last night, actually. It might be better if it stayed self-applied but blocked the next incoming magical damage of any kind (basically, same as-is, but includes AoE). Otherwise, you could literally spend Spar's turns setting up flat-out magical blocks on your party. Let's say a boss does this as his purely random attack sequence:

Physical attack
Special physical attack
Single-target magic
Single-target magic
Physical attack

Spar's first two turns could have already been spent setting up Flora on half your party, and the next few rounds can easily be spent re-applying it to anybody who got hit - and if neither of your Flora'd allies was hit, you're using it on the remaining two, which gives your entire party a spellnull. I realize the sacrifice is that Spar is doing absolutely nothing else, but spending turns to basically flat-out null spell damage in this way is pretty OP, since that also negates his need to use any of his healing abilities...

Enhanced Battle Commands

Yayyy! These are awesome!

... Except for

author=WCouillard
When an enemy is selected, Katt has roughly a 40% chance to cause that enemy to miss their turn 60% chance to waste her turn

Why not make it stat-based? It could be wayyy more successful when Katt is at low HP, for example. That also synergizes with her Taunt.

Additionally, Protect seems underpowered. It assumes that not only are you blocking a physical attack and not a magical one, but that it's directed at <specific other ally>. I realize formations will change the "aggro weight" of the members in it based on frontrow positioning etc, but perhaps this should be improved. If Rand is to be using it as a damage soak, he should either block the next physical attack directed at ANY ally, ALL hits directed at <specific other ally>, or leave the skill as-is but add "... and takes X% less damage from it."

This looks suspiciously identical to the last four games you made.
did you notice that this is actually a blog post on the last game he made and not an entirely new game? ace engine port derp

pretty sure you are missing the joke.

why is this game using edifice's graphics?
