Let it be known that I am pretty sure kentona has committed more to this site than pretty much anyone. But that doesn't mean it has been exactly what I'm talking about! Solitayre has done over 70 reviews and so contributed a lot as well, but that's in a different area.
I'm just talking tutorials. You know, that part of the site that is linked from the engine pages and is dreadfully empty.

In all honesty, I would be tickled pink if we can get "How to Get Started" with EVERY engine we have on the site. I wanted to hook in like, a series of guides on the main engine pages so people checking out engines had a direct resource to figure them out.
But we don't have any of those! If we can organize an effort to get 2-3 introduction articles to each engine, we can definitely do some good giving people a jump start on what they should be doing.

YM, that is kind of what I was getting at. Resources and scripts are just "copy paste" items. It would be more beneficial to actually teach people how to use the system rather than just give them something to slam into their game.

post=149234Okay so what did you do for beginners? I do not see your beginner's guide anywhere. I see your game that entails you switching to use RMVX, which is not the same thing. You don't need my permission to write tutorials.
So, you are just catching on to the lack of beginner help now?? jebus WIP I brought this up repeatedly in the staff forum for years and have actively tried to address it for months.

YM, I didn't say we have to cater to beginners. Not only that, but resources are completely irrelevant to trying to teach someone how to use software.
EDIT: Mary please stop posting in this topic if you are just going to waste my server's database with drivel.
kentona, I am complaining that there are no tutorials on this site telling people how to start using any of this software. I will never ever ever build a script section because that is turning the site into a copy and paste repository. Same with resources. You can teach people HOW to use software without saying "paste this into your game to get automagic ATB!!!"

No, I am being perfectly rational. I run a site that has a huge glaring flaw in that it has a very high barrier to entry for people trying to learn from the beginning. And apparently it has a userbase that doesn't give a shit.

It is not my fault you guys cannot fathom what a beginner is. Where is the "Beginner's Guide to RMVX"? Nothing that has been posted is close to that. The video tutorials were the closest.

It seems counter productive to not have an easy way for people to get involved in what this site is about. Seriously, there are two fucking tutorials in the RPG Maker VX section. That is pathetic.
