Music Command

No, that doesn't have anything to do with these commands. However, it's annoyed me how the music restarts after battle, so I'll fix it later (I need battles at all first before having the music resume).

Machine Down

What's a 1215N?

edit:
The new power adapter came, but now I've got some kind of stomach bug and I don't feel so good. It'll go away within the next 14 hours I expect, differing only by 2 hours.

Finals Time

Still not out of the mess yet though >.<

"it doesn't make a difference which way the graphics are brought in, does it?"

rpg2003.exe re-arranges the image such that the transparent color is ensured to be first in the palette.

"A normal copy of the editor? As in just a straight up translated copy with no add-ons by cherry or anybody else, correct."

Yes

"When I have an event on Same Layer as Hero and I use the erase event command, the event will still block the hero from walking through it."

I thought I fixed that, sure you're testing the latest version of my engine? The download link up there changes often.

"Choosing the skill, equip, row, active, or order commands freezes the menu. The game is still going but I can't press anything. I have to manually close."

Yeah, they aren't written yet.

"I had a potion, I went into items and used the potion. It used the potion without asking me who to use it on. I was full health too.

What buttons should I be able to press while I run the game? I noticed that F12 doesn't quit the game and Escape no longer works. Is there anything other than the 24 programmable buttons?"

These aren't implemented either. You can use all the input buttons though.

Don't forget to always use the Import command or the transparent color won't be correct sometimes.

You are using a normal copy of RPG Maker 2003 without any changes to the editor, right?

If you mail me the project file, I can try and see where it crashes.

What Kind of Villian?

What's with the rage video? Does he want me to go to the window, open it, and scream IM AS MAD AS HELL?

Your post makes lots of sense and I already knew most of that, I just don't understand the random video.

I put the line Year=20XX in rpg_rt.ini. There is no wcrpg.ini in the folder.

wcrpg.ini is a file you may or may not decide to make yourself.

What am I doing wrong?

Simple. You're trying to run the thing using the play button in your editor. Double click on the actual .exe itself to run.

I'll add support for the play button when I resume this project. It's a bizarre command line system that rpg2003.exe uses. It uses the command line for when you want to run in debug mode, battle test mode, etc. Fun thing is that you can pass debug mode command line parameters to run anyone's game in debug mode so you can edit variables and stuff with the existing RPG_RT.exe

Beyond Anime and Including Anime

I don't have time to listen to the cast but I found a point by point summary:

http://www.gladwell.com/outliers/index.html

He sounds like he's masturbating with correlations.

I strongly believe that the effect of culture is incredibly insignificant if there is an effect of drive, passion, and burning rage. I sure as hell did not turn out this way (being a programmer, scientist, engineer, artist, designer, etc.) because I grew up in a desert (although I still love the desert here). I became what I am because I wanted to be and had (and still have) enough fire in me to keep at it.

Beyond Anime and Including Anime

because you can watch most any anime and see that they are very bound to that naturalistic anatomical form in spite of any 'style' or huge boobies.

Actually, this is Sturgeon's Law. In good anime, you can see interesting variations in style. I even see some interesting differences in some bad anime too. You'd be surprised if you actually looked harder, I sure am. Most anime you see when you load up lineups is trash made to sell things and full of the fanservice you mention. But even among the garbage you can still see how they have distinct changes on characters.

Whoops, for some reason I didn't parse the "in spite of" in my head. Yeah, the first thing I tried to learn when drawing characters is how to change form and to be able to pick one to fit what I need (ex: block chibi when doing high resolution yet square shapes for VX-style sprites / semi-realistic for RM20XX/3 because the aspect is closer to reality).

When making a game world from scratch, I actually fuss about the scale/form of the world and characters for quite some time.

As you can see if you browse my sketches, I'm still trying to get the form correctly for large pictures as it's still not quite right when I draw panels or large stills that have more of the character's body in it.

I actually do agree that the first thing someone should learn about a medium is the metrics. Most people I see who want to draw in this medium go straight to learning faces, hair, clothes, etc. and even skim over hands and feet.

Also, define 'copying?' If you mean tracing from something, that is a very ineffective way of learning because you are not relying on your visual memory to do it, and thus do not retain the 'information' as easily. It is way better to draw from a reference or life or something.

Yeah, I meant references.

I have no idea what you are on about here.

Despite understanding a few things you mention, I still have no idea what you're going on about either. I wasn't really talking about how to learn anime here, I was talking about this weird and disgusting idea that "white people can't anime" or that the entire medium is for posers.

Retool

Dammit Jim, I'm an engineer not an artist.

..Even though I can draw and model things. Anyway, if I'm going to make an editor I might as well just make a new RPG Maker Suite after I finish 20XX.
