Glacia Review

Thanks for the Review. DrawnActor is a contributor to this project. Glaica was started, directed, produced and developed by myself. Other than myself many people have contributed to the project, DrawnActor being the most significant. The current version of the project sadly doesn't reflect the current state of it on our computers. Also sadly life and difficulties working on the project has stalled an otherwise 88% complete release of chapter one and a sneak peak of chapter two from being put out into the world.

DrawnActor was brought on to assist me with writing dialog and story as it was clearly my weakest point before. A great deal of the increase in quality of the dialog and improvements in storytelling are in great due to him. Building off of the original concept created by myself. At this time DrawnActor no longer wishes to be involved in the project. I believe this is due to his commitment to a perfectionist mindset. Meaning he has a version of the game he wants out there, and if he doesn't have the time and attention to devote to that he would prefer to not be involved.

All of this being stated myself and DrawnActor are still close friends on great terms and we may even revisit this together at some point. I may write a blog post update on the game and my plans for it in the future. At this exact time I am busy with my business.

Thank you for the review and the interest in Glaica. I do expect to at least one day to polish and release the build that is on my pc once life allows. DrawnActor has expressed his exhaustion at assisting me is finishing up the project. This may change. Either way this project has and still is important to me and I do not consider it abandoned.

Champs of the Bocca Review

We have tons of ways we want to add to the game, I think the team just needs a little time away from this post bacon!

Oh, I do understand that you feel that way. Vincent will receive a lot of character development during the course of the story. You'll see what I'm talking about when the full game is out (if you'd ever plan on playing, that is).

I'll definitely play the full release, also planning on updating the review when that hits!

No worries, I've been doing the same. Hopefully, we'll both finally have our games finished by the end of the year. I'd be happy to help out to beta test Glacia, if I can manage to finish reCO1 faster. I'll probably return the favor and give a review to it as well. Good luck! :)

There is no way all four chapters of Glacia will be done by the end of the year. Hopefully chapter two will be thou. I may take you up on that beta test help in about 2ish weeks.

Could you elaborate a bit more on this? Are you talking about walking in 1-tile path? Like the forest area before the Dark Forest (Depths)?

Sure, early in game their is a graveyard area. It is open with multiple directions the player can choose to use. In contrast the forest area's have only one straight path and only the random battles impede progress.

The Dark Forest is like a nest for the Wraiths, meaning that the deeper you go into the nest, the more Wraiths are likely to be spotted. It's also a way for progressively building up the difficulty for the dungeon.

If its a nest perhaps have it build up to a boss fight? Queen Wraith? Try building the tension.

How do you find Vincent unlikable? He is very stale in a way, very straight to the point, but that is mainly because we wanted to be less of a talkative type, after what has happened to him. There will be plenty of time for Vincent to shine though, since the story is packed with BANG! You'll see when the game is done. ;)

Vincent leaves his friend behind and runs away! That makes him pretty unlikable, he doesn't even like himself. Also when he gets trapped in the castle he is weak because of the strength of his heart or w.e. I assumed the story arc was to redeem him in the eyes of the player and himself.

Sorry for the late reply on this been slaving away on my game.

I really appreciate this review. I have too much to say here in this comment so I'm going to type it all up as a blog post. I will say that if the Hit Ratio was easy for me to fix, It would have been. The system is tied up in multiple scripts. I couldn't find where the hit ratio was being set. If anyone who knows tons about ruby, Vx scripting wants to take a look and see if they can help discern and fix the problem I would appreciate the help.

This game will continue to be developed in some fashion in the future.

As for it being/not being available in battle, I'll see if I've got a save file where I had it equipped and it didn't show up.

I just double checked to make sure and you can use all restoration spells in battle. Perhaps you did not have the skill "equipped" when you failed to see it. Hope that helps.

I've also been able to cast heal just fine in battle.

Also, I think it's a good thing that Mend is expensive. In over 95% of every RPG I've played, heal spells are the best spells and this game is not an exception. If healing are the best spells they should also be expensive. This game is one of the few where healing is actually appropriately priced.

Also I give the player a skill called minor mana drain that you can use to fuel mend spam.

I have no idea what your talking about. All regeneration spells are cast-able in battle...

I kinda feel like 2.5 on story is low. :(
