Top 10 Topic: Favorite Films of 2009

I don't think i even watched ten films but uh

Moon - excellent scifi although a bit PLOTTWISTY

Zombieland - idk it didnt do a whole lot for me, it felt a little uh PRECIOUS in a lot of ways. bill murray owns though

Inglourious Bastards - pretty good i guss but self-indulgent maybe?? i mean the whole concept is self-indulgent but i have mixed feelings about tarantino anyway so. it was ok i guess.

Those two Mesrine movies - i liked them a lot!! although the second one kind of lost focus imo and why are they two films anyway?? stop taking my money guys.

Sherlock Holmes - it was definitely GUY RITCHIES SHERLOCK HOLMES and i wish downey jr would branch out more but it was pretty entertaining i thought.

In The Loop - hell yeah!!!! this was really funny i thought.

A Serious Man - loved it, film of 2009 imo (not that i have many reference points but you know)

Drag Me To Hell - i liked this a heck of a lot!!

i really wanted to watch Bad Lieutenant - Port Of Call too becuse it looks fucking insane but alas.......

RPG Architect - The first RPG creation tool of its kind

good luck with this, i guess! the map object thing sounds interesting and seems like it'd be a lot handier for custom graphics than trying to force it all into tilesets.

Ghost Voyage Review

Thanks for the review! The fullscreen disclaimer was mainly thrown in there because someone had problems playing the paul moose game in fullscreen and i had no idea whether it was something in the code which changes when you play it like that or not. It shouldn't really make any difference, I was just covering my ass. I have no idea what happened to the music, though!

TheLastHero.png

i liked "God cast Supersonic Wave!". "god is a zubat" - nietzche

ClothDestruction.jpg

i'm not sure if the fact you put actual work into the battles here makes this more or less creepy

ZiggyTheGame.jpg

just me, baby. just me.

Bandit.png

i really liked the graphics and just general approach to this one (text-based banditry etc) but the battles brought it down! i mean it was made in a day so it doesn't really make a difference but i thought some kind of automatic SUCCESS/FAIL YOU TAKE X DAMAGE YOU GOT Y COINS or whatever would have fitted the mood a bit more than a regular rpg battle thing. but yeah this is cool!

JiangShi.png

this was pretty cool dude! probably my favorite of the games submitted. i only got to level... four i think?? but it was good

y my game not excepted

"post hard every day" - andrew wk

y my game not excepted

i didnt know our reviews were so.. political

*walks out of the topic enlightened*

rpg reviews are a symbolic extension of the class struggle both in the underlying principles universally respected ("immersion" etc) and those more frequently debated (is it not the case that the argument of embedded vs emergent vidcon narrative mirrors that of liberal-democratic vs laissez-faire capitalist values in the construction of the narrative space? it is only in the context of communism that we can perform a dialectical synthesis of these seemingly opposite elements by revealing them as part of larger underlying presumptions about the nature of gaming reality in itself, much as the differences in opinion between "liberal" and "conservative" capitalists serve only to distract from the larger context of class exploitation). to this end we should not attempt to REJECT this symbolic element inherent in the system by attempting to make the reviews "objective" but rather use the symbolic factor as a means of exploration of the deeper real by embracing exactly this subjective argumentative factor.
