Breath of Fire: A Line Ended
author=amerkevicius
Why bother with a number sequence at all. Just call it Breath of Fire: (insert name). But since there is no actual 6 (VI), you might get away with that, as well. Or in case a VI will one day be made, call it V-II. However, here are a few suggestions for names:
The Fated Child
Shifting Powers
The Destined Call
Rise to Glory
An End To All Things
Reminds of a lot of BoF II, great job with the mapping and incorporating a BoF feel, including graphics, audio, and even story. There are several things to consider, though, some of which you indicated on the download page:
**No faceset for Vos in the menu.
**Lots of passability issues, being able to walk on walls, etc.
**Since there are saving dragons, the save option in the menu is not needed.
**The game title here is II.V. When I first start up the game it's VI. And then, after the opening sequence, it's II.
**No need for the item shop in Dolygany (not sure if that's spelled correctly) since you have 0 gold and by the time you have enough gold you can't use it.
Anyways, that's pretty much what I saw for now.
Great feedback, thank you!
We have decided on Breath of Fire: A Line Ended
For the saving, it's just for the demo. Though I will most likely take it out for the next patch, saving for me is really important while testing events, but not really a must have for the demo.
I revamped the intro a bit which will be in the next patch, you'll have about 200 Zenny if you open dressers.
With the title pictures, we had a few name changes, the next patch will have the new name, just need to make the image.
As for passiblity, it's always an issue, just when I think I got it all... I didn't check some areas enough though, this has mostly been fixed. (I will admit that I rushed the second part of the demo to release, once I got the story the way I wanted it, and the look the way I wanted, I pushed it out, so in the cabin, for instance, there's some collision issues.)

I keep forgetting that this game is supposed to segue BoF2 to BoF3. Why I was expecting Bow, I'll never know. Also, to be honest, I'm not a perfect student of BoF lore, by any means.
It never occurred to me that Bleu/Dies was Myria in disguise. Also, I'm not sure why I got the impression that it was Bleu/Dies (or Tyr/Myria) that was performing the destruction, rather than the Dark Dragons. I still hold, however, that you may want to step away from referencing BoF1 with having a feud between Dark and Light Dragons. It's your game, though.
Keep in mind that the Dragon Clan in general is called the Brood in BoF3, suggesting that even if there was a dichotomy in the aftermath of BoF2, there was not enough Dragons left to consider themselves "Dark" and "Light" by the time of the Great War. Or, if there were, it was of little consequence to the victor's (Tyr/Myria's) side. I dunno. As I've said, I'm not a scholar of BoF lore.
I can see your point
At the end of this game, there won't be many Dragon Clan left, those remaining have about 1,000 years to propagate to the levels that they were when they were massacred by Myria's Guardians.
I made this game to kind of explain, at least in my theories, which absolutely are conjecture, of why things changed from 2 to 3, like for instance, your reference of Brood. Hopefully I'll be able to do that.
I hope that you will keep playing when the next demo is out, and hopefully it'll be decent. I originally did want to just have Myria be the enemy, however, my concern was the reaction that my plot wouldnt be complex enough. So I've had to infuse it with a number of twists and had to sort of change up my initial concept.

The following notes were compiled as I played the game. A stream of consciousness of thought relayed into a text file, then copy-pasted into a post. Think of this as a Let's Play, only without a video or audio component. To prevent possible spoilers, this post is brought to you via the ever-helpful hide tag!
Sweet. The BoF2 intro music. Pro play, friend.
Okay, maybe my memory is insanely fuzzy, but the only remnants of the Dragon Clan in BoF2, was the town in Infinity, whose name I've forgotten. Hell, are there any remnants of the Dark Dragons, who worked with Myria/Tyr, in BoF1? Nevermind. I'm thinking too much again.
This initial equipment makes me oddly happy, for some reason. "PracticeSD" is the kind of item name BoF2 might have had, if it could hold more than six characters.
Thank you for not emulating the walking speed that wasn't just slow enough to be annoying!
You can search the dressers, right? RIGHT? Exactly how it was in the SNES. Sweet!
I don't need to use the action button to enter buildings? Well, I'm sure you didn't need to on the SNES, but I half-expected it, for some reason. Pro tip: Don't change it!
Why do I get this odd feeling that you're trying to link BoFDQ to this universe? It might be technically possible, time-line wise, but I think you might be going for something a bit too complex in doing so.
Okay, so only on some doors do you need to use the action button on. Whatever. Not a huge issue, really.
Nice save statue. I presume that this means that the save anywhere function will be disabled at some point?
In Breath of Fire 2, the Dragon Clan made a town in the middle of the Infinity dungeon. My memory is more than a little fuzzy, but if this town is supposed to be that town, shouldn't there be a panorama? Oh wait, this simply hasn't been implemented yet, has it? Nevermind!
Who's this Vos? I was half-expecting Bow to be the "friend" Dover was talking about.
Is this after BoF2 or not? Seriously, this whole thing with Dark and Light Dragon dichotomy smells more of a prequel to BoF1 than anything else.
What's Deis/Bleu doing? I thought she was an ally of the Dragons? Well, she's on her own side, I guess. But destroying the Dragon's village seems out-of-character for her. Maybe it's just me.
Might want to check the passabilities of the cabin's tileset. I'm walking over some walls. The crate on the south-east wall I could also walk right over.
Is it just me, or is the overworld music from Dragon Quarter? After some searching in my music folders, I can identify it as A Moment of Joy, from Breath of Fire - Dragon Quarter. Decent.
Okay, so this town isn't the town in Infinity. I finally get the message. However, it makes little sense for the Dragon Clan to move out of Infinity. Then again, my memory of how, exactly, BoF2 ends is feeble at best.
That song... another Dragon Quarter song? Wait, I know this... um... A Small Departure? No, wait. This is Trinity Pit. Re-checking my music folder... yep, that's the one. Identify +3!
And... Game Over. Hrm. Not really sure what to think. The mish-mash of BoF1, and BoFDQ puts this game in an odd place. I know there's a reference to the Destined Child (BoF2) by Leader-Woman-What's-Her-Face at some point, but it feels out-of-place with everything else I see.
Maybe this is just me talking, but forget about the feuding Light and Dark Dragons. That conflict was resolved with BoF1. I'm not sure what this game's conflict wants to be, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't want to be that. I'm okay with having Ryu getting kicked out of Dolgany. I figure this can happen either by Myria waking up and destroying it (in the name of peace, of course), or by a more natural disaster. If you want to segue this game to the Great War referenced in BoF3, it may behoove you to go the former route. However, as I said before, this is just me talking.
I will ask that those who comment on the lore aspect of this fan sequel please be well versed in the history of 1 through 3. Also, please read the intro page to this game, it is stated that this takes place 1,000 years after the events of 2. I also mention it in the game with dialogue, though i will make it clearer that Vos is talking about the events in 2 and not in 1.
Ok, few things,
Okay, so this town isn't the town in Infinity. I finally get the message. However, it makes little sense for the Dragon Clan to move out of Infinity. Then again, my memory of how, exactly, BoF2 ends is feeble at best. This is 1,000 years after the events of Breath of Fire 2. In 2, Gate was crushed with Township. Now it is widely accepted that Dologany is Dragonier, from III, which is above ground. So I have moved the Dragon Clan above ground, with Deathevan dead, there's little reason for them to be down there anyway.
In II, there were some Dark Dragons left, if you spoke with the people of Dologany, it hinted at that, as well as Ray was from the Dark Dragon Clan. If that Dark Dragon member felt the need to identify himself as a Dark Dragon, that means they still consider themselves separate from the rest of the clan. Who can say what tensions can arise in 1,000 years? Nations rise and fall in that span of time, how can anyone say that that couldnt happen? we have no idea what happens between 2 and 3, no idea, none(save the events immediately before III). So, as set up in the intro, the Dark and Light Dragons have lived together for 1,000 years, the Dark Dragons are known to be vicious, and the Line of the Destined Child kept them in place(ray wasnt vicious, i'll give them that, but he also knew nothing of his people). here is the Timeline the game goes by.
I found the music of 2 to be harsh, abrasive and at times infuriating, so in this chapter, I will be mashing tracks from across the series.
As for what Bleu's doing, maybe I should make it more obvious that that's a fake Deis?
Also, why would this be the same Ryu as in 2? Why would Bow be his friend? Bow is quite dead.
As for the title screen which reads breath of fire 6 and the second title screen that reads breath of fire 2, i could see how those could warrant confusion, they are just placeholders, but I will take them out before the next demo release. That being said the file name was Breath of Fire II V 1.05, 2.5 was the old name, but it still suggests that it isn't 2, and the logo on the top corner of the screen and the main page all say the correct title.
Thank you for playing, and I'll fix that cabin issue right away : )
I'll sum it up with a spoiler that may explain a few things:
There' a feud going on on who will rule, but it hasnt resorted to conflict. Myria, pretending to be Deis, someone the Dragon Clan knows to be an ally, and always appears when the destined one needs her, seduces and bewitches the leader of the Dark Dragons, one who is respected by his peers. She tells him that he is the new Destined Child, and that it is time to claim his birthright.
Now as for her reasoning, I won't get into it, but just know, she has her reasons.
What are you thinking about right now?

Though Breath of Fire's Dologany music was epic, just about every other track was trash though...

Very showy.
yeah I don't know why they called it the Show Cave in 2, i guess maybe because barubary showed himself there.

Just the toppers actually looks fine! Otherwise, full-cave. I wouldn't worry about adding too many curves because it's obviously been 'carved into' the cave or something ;) what with the tile floors and beds..
cool, thank you, I thought the cave toppers would be lame, but seeing them in effect they look better than the other options
