The CSS struggle is real!

Hi hi! I'm kalechips, and I've finally decided to make an account on this site. I at last got the gumption to upload one of my games here but when trying to doll up the page, things got weird.
I was using this topic as well as some various other forum posts as a guide. My CSS code is copy and pasted exactly from the guide. However, some issues occurred:

- The only change I could see is my background image. everything else is the same.
- Even when changing the URL for the background image, the same image of a train from my itch.io shows up and it does not repeat no matter how I edit the code.
- Apparently my changes are visible to all but me. I got a comment saying that my description text wasn't readable, meaning that I'd managed to change the game frame color to black even though it still looked white to me.

I even logged out a few times after saving some changes to see if I could view my page from the outside, but no go. Right now I have no custom CSS for the sake of readability ^^" I'm sure the solution is something hilariously simple. Thank you for reading.
