I'd play more but dear gods, your game is kinda buggy at times and the cpu usage is quite high. I think that's the cause of the sluggishness, right?

The opening scene: hmm, the parts which led to his firing were a bit too straight-forward to me. Also, the humour didn't strike me as funny but perhaps it's me though.

Well, I don't mind walking around town as opposed to walking on the map but that's only IF there're different events going on.

Also, I think you could do with an editor so the characters will sound more in keeping with their characters. As it is, the dialogue is decent though.

The battle screen: looks okay to me but could do with some sprucing up with graphics + colours so it'd look more professional and less blocky or RPGish.

And more save slots, please! I kinda dislike having to manually back them up all the time, on my computer.

Thanks for the comments Tofu.

As you've seen, we still have quite a ways to go, so many of the concerns you've raised will indeed be addressed in due time.

For instance, the current introduction is placeholder. In the final game the intro will be playable. Likewise the battle interface will be completely visual and will feature more graphical effects and animations. Reducing the lag will happen during our Beta optimization pass, etc.

Thanks for taking the time to play the demo and do continue to post feedback if you keep playing. We're taking it all in right now and the more comments and critiques we can get at this point, the more we can improve the final game :)

Cheers,

Hi there! just passing by to leave some feedback. :3
I was pretty surprised by how this game goes on, it's certainly different from your usual RPG Maker game, and I like it! The sprites are good and story/battles are interesting. Oh, and scenes like when you meet and hire the security officer are great!
It gets a bit laggy sometimes, but maybe it's because I'm playing on an very ooold notebook, idk.
I didn't play until the end yet, but I feel like leaving some feedback already, cause I really liked this gamestyle.

So, good job!

Thanks Lyn! Glad you are enjoying it.

Int, Diligence, Luck, Charisma? When does this happen? That sounds like a bug to me.

edit: NEW BUG, you can't back out of trying to switch support characters in battle.

2nd edit: in the final battle, mamasan says "there's no end to your gaul". Should be gall.

3rd edit: hang on a second. This is happening to my stats, too. I had diligence maxed out, got some bonuses to it from dialog events, and now it's down at 8.

4th edit: while fighting the investor (don't ask. I hit my profit goal way early, and then took out every loan I could find to make it a challenge again. I missed by about 15 points,) I used a help wanted sign and a fiber uppercut before battle. During the battle, trying to access the tactics menu caused the turn counter display to advance, ended my turn, skipped my opponent's turn, and didn't actually advance the turn counter.

5th edit: yeah, it's definitely the fiber uppercut causing that. Tried the same thing again several different ways. Using a fiber uppercut always produces that result.

6th edit: ...or not? This is happening automatically now. I was able to fight the investor normally once, and then I reloaded, wore the gold suit, and bought the fiber uppercut. Will start trying different things to see if I can get this to stop happening.

7th edit: went out, bought some new cereal, and changed my suit. That seemed to do the trick. Also, game cleared. This was a lot of fun. You've definitely got bugs a-plenty, but considering all the custom scripts you're using, that's to be expected. I will absolutely be following this game through its development process. You've got a rare gem of a concept here, and--more importantly--it's fun to play.

Thanks for all your feedback and support Kumada. You just helped to improve the quality of the game :) We'd like to add you to the special thanks credits. If that's all right with you, then just message me with the name you'd like to appear there.

I thought I saw this on greenlight, but when I went back to check, it was gone. So, I have no idea. Maybe I saw something that looked similar? Maybe I imagined it? I've definitely never heard of a game like this before, though.

Also, found some bugs. Returning to the seaside map where you chase Vic, I found that run was permanently on and that the ledges all had passability issues.

edit: more bugs. Wants-to-look-a-white-blue-suit-guy, as soon as he's shown the white-blue suit, merrily clips his way through the table in front of him to get to the check-out counter. Also, the grateful merchants of market town presented me with two signs and a suit as a display of gratitude. Only one sign showed up in my inventory.

Great, thanks! We'll get those taken care of.

For what it's worth, here is some more detailed criticism:

-You've got some occasional punctuation errors that are showing up in the script. Places where there should be a period but one got left out. If you're working from a separate .doc file for your script, just giving it another once over should catch all of these things.

-I think I saw this on greenlight, and I did greenlight it. That said--and I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for this--I think rpg maker might be holding the game back from looking fully professional. It isn't that there is anything objectively wrong with rpg maker, but you have fairly standard walking-around-the-blocky-map exploration segments that are mixed in with really professional looking splash screens and character portraits. Looking back and forth between the generic-ish backgrounds and the polished art assets practically gives me whiplash. Personally, I'd suggest nixing all the walking-around-town segments and putting everything on an interactive map (similar to the way The Reconstruction did things, or like a less linear Trauma Center.) Most of the walking has, so far, felt to me like filler anyways, and you could get a tighter game experience from cutting it out.

Thanks for the feedback :) We still have about a year left to go on it, so the map and world interactions are indeed still WIP. We'll be making them feel as detailed, organic, and alive as we can during the polish phase of the project.

You mentioned you saw this on Steam Green light? Seriously? Interesting. We didn't submit it there. I'll have to go take a look.

Thanks for the heads up and great comments.

Cheers,
